Neil's reporting is fair, and he always has the facts.

To many people are playing the anti-tory card now, its lies, the nasty party its all their fault etc. It didn't do them any good in the recent GE, so they need to reign it in.

We know there are problems, especially around testing, but every country around the world has been caught on the hop with CV, thats why its important to all pull together and fuck the petty points scoring, i personally think they are doing a very good job, not excellent, but in the circumstances they are doing a very good job.

Even the Daily Mail are piling in on them. But aye, we should probably save it for the inevitable public enquiry.

Then slaughter the useless fuckers

Clearly something not right here then

Why would they go on TV begging all sorts of companies to turn to making ventilators if we had a specialist with spare capacity that was going unused

It doesn’t sound like a conscious decision

Dyson? JCB?

The cynic in me would ask what do they have in common

This isn’t about politics. It’s about answers to simple questions. How come Germany are better prepared? Why haven’t we got the testing capacity they have? They dodge the answer for ages then come up with something about chemicals to which those producing said chemicals claim they’ve never been asked by the government for greater production.

They're honest about the scale of the virus and the inability to predict. But they need to give simple and honest answers to all questions. Otherwise they are the ones playing politics. This is about protecting NHS staff some of whom have already died. If they can’t be honest about that what’s the point?

In defence, they did explain the issue v German testing

I doubt either could get near the same price as a specialist manufacturer

I doubt any government would knowingly want to overspend unnecessarily

Especially one that’s forking out hundreds of billions all over the place

give it a rest

Like I said, that was the cynic in me. The non cynical side wants to see this as true altruism.

Give it a rest? Let  me think for a moment.

Nah, balls to that 😀

See, im thinking one good thing that comes out of this is a realisation we have been getting screwed on price from traditional manufacturers

Every one is entitled to their opinion. I base mine on Tweets and Statements from the CEOs of the very Companies that are saying the Government lied about that stuff. By the Way, short supply is not the same as not available, and the CEO stated that they have zero problem in getting as much as is required.

Are these the same CEO's thayt yesterday you were saying lie all the time and would use this crisis as a way to do stuff that would otherwise be illegal, or a completely different type of CEO ?

Out of interest what was it?

Anything to do with the number of labs able to carry out testing by any chance?

PHE only have 8 regional virology labs which is what was limiting us to 10,000 tests a day.

The tests weren't being carried out in any old lab. It needed to be done in a home office approved CL3 lab.

As I understand it, they've now relaxed the restrictions so that the tests can now also be carried out directly by the NHS. I'm not sure whether the tests still need to be done in a CL3 lab or whether it's now acceptable to do them in a CL2 lab. Either way, you still cannot do the test in any old lab and you also need the correct equipment to do the tests. The equipment is not typically "off the shelf"

Even still

Getting a brand new piece of kit out in a matter of days from nothing would cost a fortune

Your "car" will be involved in a crime at some point in the not too distant future

Funny that, your points, opinions and views mainly have a political slant on them 🤔

Not really. The fact you don't want criticism seems political. Especially when most of the criticism is coming from supporters of the Tory party...

Right now there is zero point in political point scoring. There is no election round the corner. This is simply about being able to explain why our testing rate is lower -  they've not explained this at all - in spite of pretence otherwise and crucially when NHS staff will be tested. Secondly about when NHS staff will have suitable PPE. Its about lives not politics.

Can someone bump the politics thread for the anti-tory everything is there fault brigade please so they post their drivel on there?

Why ? I voted Conservative from when I was able to vote up until I moved over here. I think Corbyn is a fucking Arsehole so it's not about being anti-tory, it's about holding the current Government to account. It's almost like they are steamrolling ahead with their Herd Immunity idea by not getting the number of tests done that they promised, not buying Ventilators from Companies that could supply them and actually build them for a living, not having people checked coming in to the UK at the Airports and Ports, and not issuing Fines that would actually stop people from ignoring their recommendations with regard to Staying at Home and social distancing.

The ironic thing is the ones who are concerned with politics are the people who cannot tolerate people asking questions of the government. The point of these questions is to represent the NHS staff and public asking them. They are perfectly legitimate questions.

The actions we’ve taken are commendable. But just as we can praise that it’s fair to question some fundamentals that haven’t had real answers yet.
