I am no fan of the Tories. But asking the same question 10 times as some journalists are doing to highlight any errors is tedious.

I am in the 7/10 camp so far. Just hope after the event is not all about to 3 that could have been better.

I also hope that any scrutiny on calls made by doctors in this crisis is made with due reflection on the circumstances. You can almost imagine the ambulance chasers getting their adverts ready. ‘Medical negligence claim’ will be a boom industry in 6 months the fucking leeches. Representing the panic buying pud going partying dick heads.

Asking a question on repeat is only necessary if you don’t get a proper and truthful answer. When Hancock came out and answered honsetly about testing he wasn’t asked again. In fact he invited follow up questions. Clear and transparent and honest. Before that they weren’t being honest. If they had at the start mobilised our lab space we could be doing more tests, because they didn’t we arent. But now they are. This is exactly why these questions need asking. Now they are doing what can be done it’s a good thing. A positive.

We’ve been discussing Fairfield hospital and the 50 year old cut off point.

Indeed we have

Id have made the same decision if they had been 50 as it happens

Anyway, fwiw, the line being drawn at 50 will be bollocks

But, on the matter of the letters going out telling folk over 70? (age is irrelevant) that they wont be resucciated is unacceptable in my opinion

Can everyone who wants to support the NHS and or likes a bet, get on the Virtual Grand National.

All profits go to the NHS

ITV 5pm

Done. Fiver E/W on Tiger Roll as the favourite and fiver E/W on Two’s Company as it feels quite fitting at the moment.

Great shout. Had no idea this was happening. Lumped on! 🙂

Don't bet on the favourite though. Apparently the NHS will get dick all!

Good to have choice although apart from dismissing what another poster has put and I can’t see a reason to why, I’m not sure of what your point is?

However I do see that you’ve alluded to putting an age on things is discriminatory.

If you're genuinely in a position of offer advice to help the fight, fine. But do so in the correct way- contact the authorities and get involved in a beneficial way.

Those that know no more than the rest of us, screeching and spreading shite around (particularly on social media) are only hampering efforts.

BBC have just done a bit, where they debunked some bullshit spread on such platforms.

My brother also sent me a couple of these things on WhatsApp with the usual "send it to everyone" bollocks at the bottom.

I told him the message was full of inaccuracies and should not be sent to anyone. And deleted it.

I think that’s where the media come in. Highlight the messaging from the government, hold them account on the bullshit

Never said anyone should shut up. As I’ve said nobody is immune to criticism and that applies to everything in life. But there is a time and a place and a manner for giving that criticism so as to promote positive change

i personally welcome criticism and constructive feedback in all facets of life  it’s how we evolve and develop

a “told you so” mentality or constantly trying to force home your own politically biased views to an audience wishing to discuss a global pandemic just doesn’t cut it for me.

oh and our media are an utter disgrace. They are the forefront of the political point scoring

A lot of that is people's reaction to the messenger rather than the message.

If Andrew Neil tweets that the governments briefings on PPE and testing have been terrible, or if The Spectator/some Conservative blogger says the government have tanked our economy for the flu, that's ok. But if someone from the other side says similar, they're political point scoring.

There's no reason for anyone to be overly defensive - they're a government, not your football team. I've said before I think they're doing a pretty decent job in extremely difficult circumstances, but they've also been aided by the criticism and questions they've been made to answer.

I also don't see what political points there are to score - that particular battle was decided fairly decisively in December.

If Andrew Neil says something I listen because I deem him to suitably appraised. Same as in most facets of life in that I listen to people who are clearly qualified to talk about the subject at hand.

not some loon from a football forum banging the red labour/anti tory drum constantly  Or some two bit journalist trying to increase their own personal profile or clickbait wankers.

I also agree wholeheartedly that there is no point trying to politically point score. Perhaps may I suggest then your message is imparted to those who believe it is still appropriate

That's the point, until an inquiry is held when all this is done, we don't know what the bullshit is.

The frenzy over this testing situation is ridiculous. I don't believe for one minute that the government have decided not to buy tests.

If however, the preparation wasn't as good as it could have been, fine; we'll find out in due course.

But without the ‘frenzy’ I’m not sure we’d have seen the urgency we are seeing now

And if it transpires after the inquest that they could have prepared better and should have clearly acted in a different manner whilst armed with the necessary information to make that that decision then heads should roll. Simple as that.
