That's strange

Seeing as folk can't, as yet, travel to airports, congregate etc etc

And back to the UK and isolate for 2 weeks?

Very odd

Be interesting to hear Trafs take on the timing of the announcement

I'm due to go a few days earlier, with an airline that I'd expect to be the first up and running

However, unless the govt allows a big release on the restrictions, jet2 UK can't make such a statement

Unless they're playing games

Had some advance single train tickets to/from london this weekend, last time i checked last weekend i couldn't get a refund and could only reschedule which had admin fees

Anyway

Today have been able to get a full refund, which is nice

I have a holiday booked to Majorca going from Munich to Palma on 8th May. TUI hotel, but flight booked seperately with Lufthansa. So, TUI are saying you can move any holiday booked up till end of June to a new date, but they aren't cancelling them (yet). Lufthansa saying the same, but aren't cancelling the Flight (yet) despite my last three Lufthansa Flights (travelling to/from work) getting cancelled.

Strange thing is, I went on the TUI website and entered the exact same dates from 8th May, and it comes up that I can book a holiday. I don't get it. Spain is in lockdown and the Hotels in Majorca have said it will be July before they can open again because they still need to be completely disinfected, and they have no idea about getting staff now.

The article says recommence operations June 17th

Nobody can know when flights can resume. So any date is simply a company trying to grow their sales. Its impossible to say because its not just the UK to decide.

Yes I get that

it’s just a load of messing around for them cancelling re scheduling if it’s not the case

Big jumps in the number of deaths in Belguim and the Netherlands.

Belgium has just over 2000 deaths, with a population of 11 million, That's a really gruesome amount considering..

To put it into context by scaling up, UK has 66 million, with 5400,

If you use a scale factor of 6 to make the numbers level, Belgium would have 12,000 deaths

Horrid :(

I'm thinking it's more they've been TOLD 17th is the earliest flights could start

But, it could be later

I'd like a similar announcement from my airline and I'll book September, hopefully

Depends on reporting - no idea how Belgium are reporting theirs, but earlier UK data suggested we're seeing an up to 80% lag in reporting - in that most single days reporting are 80% lower than reality. Hence we may be at the same level. Plus we're not looking at non-hospital deaths.

It is why the comparison of daily deaths directly is discouraged because everyone is reporting in a different way.
