Reading raabs comments today we and the reference to the medical Evidence it would appear that Monday is a slam dunk Carry on in this lockdown life scenario and we will update you in 3 weeks. Toodle pip.

and it came as a shock to me that we at e now 3/4 weeks behind Italy according to the medical experts I for some reason thought it was stated as 2? Or have I misread this somewhere along the way?

It’s fucking grim this

Depends how you want to measure it - if we measure against deaths % of population, which many seem to be doing now, we're about 16 days behind them currently.

They slowed at around the same stage as we are doing now, but we are a bit slower - They peaked 12-8 days ago.

However, our population is 10% larger than theirs, and we locked down a bit earlier

So, extrapolating this out, it looks like we could peak with a similar number, but with a lower % of population.

the descent from peak isn't as fast as the ascent in Italy so far

hopefully we'll peak earlier and have a faster ascent if the lockdown has worked - we've possibly got another 4-8 days of growth until we peak, if we follow Italy.

North West is roughly 12 days behind London, so this should see us peak with lower rates than London has today

there was an unsubstantiated rumour knocking about that these deaths could only be added to the official figures if the next of kin gave written consent to do so

That's been confirmed as bollocks, not that I think anybody would actually be stupid enough to believe it anyway.

If we are 3-4 weeks behind Spain/Italy, who have both just extended their lockdown till the end of this month, it means we'll be in lockdown till the end of May

Are Spain and Italy in a proper lockdown or our half arsed attempt?

from BBC

"

If there is any silver lining to these grim figures, it is that they represent the fourth day in a row of below-trend growth.

For weeks up until Friday's figures, the number of deaths had been doubling every three and a half days. Had that trend continued, we would have seen close to 1,400 deaths today.

So 786 is better than that, although it's still too soon to know what's causing it. It could be a big bottleneck in reporting (we've seen that after previous weekends) or genuine evidence that growth is truly slowing down.

More hopefully, for almost a week, daily new cases have been holding steady at about 4,000 a day, suggesting that, while we are still seeing new cases, the growth in this figure could be stalling. "

Saw a hefty increase in one NW figures on one of the graphs, while most other than london stabilised or decreased

Think it was hospital admissions

Yep.

Cumbria and Lancashire are particularly bad in the NW Preston, Lancaster, Carlisle, Kendal.

Bolton, Wigan, Bury Blackburn, Salford, Rochdale still some of the lowest

Correct. We ain’t getting let out for a fairly prolonged period I think we need to accept that. Some probably have already accepted it. I’m slowly now getting used to the idea and it’s filling me with dread

Iv'e seen a few dead pigeons, i bet folk are taking pot shots with air rifles, mainly out of boredom. Jack Duckworth will be rolling in his grave.

Just imagine if someone took a pot shot and killed one of Mike Tyson's pigeons? I dread to think of the consequences!

Not until second week of August. Other half is due on her mate’s hen do to Prague at the end of June but that’s been practically written off now. And with no insurance, sadly (against my advice at the time).

I'm hoping August will be fine (I'm due to go on 13th), but Prague looks unlikely. Who's that booked with?

Seems women have a much better chance with this than men.

That's what they concluded in China too, partly because the blokes smoke 40 a day

Anyway (open question)

Would these "official" death numbers include, for example, all those found dead in that care home in Glasgow?

Could you go volunteering?

A change of scenery and all that.

Agree that "80% down" headline is click bait..

That implies that we are only reporting 20% (1/5th) of deaths..

So most people will read that as the 5k deaths is actually 25k.

Very far from the truth.

Yet fan5 feels the need to post it. Piss poor as usual.

I’ve signed up mate. I’m so busy at work just now though if I’m Totally honest I wouldn’t have time to do anything other than weekends.

in the evenings after I finally finish work my time is spent out walking and running and then repeat. It’s my only salvation. If they took that off me I would honestly be a ticking time bomb.
its Just ground hog day and I’m not the most mentally robust individual and likely to blow up at some point and can sense it on the horizon. God help us then

Does it imply that?

I'd read it as if 100 deaths were reported 80 were not. So a reporting rate of 55% (100/180) rather than 25%.

Still a bit sensationalist and I dont doubt that many would interpret it in the way you suggest.

Seems like Spain is halfway between. Brother in law lives near Valencia. They can take the dog for a walk and shop for essentials but the coppers are pretty high profile on the streets and if you’re out and about you need a good reason. He’s in a residential area and if he takes the dog out he carries the dog passport with him to prove he’s the owner as some dogs were being walked by multiple people so that they had an excuse to get out

They aren’t far from the beach but that’s completely deserted. As many on here know you don’t fuck around with the Spanish police and take the piss

Think they’ve booked flights direct with RyanAir and hotel through booking.com or something similar. Think she’s written the money off and counting any refund as a bonus.

I don’t know whether it’s busier in other areas or owt like that, but I’ve been set as “on duty” for the last two days and yet to have any call outs.

I didn’t originally post it. Blame whoever it was that did. I saw it and thought it pertinent to a discussion that was not sensationalised in any way. I realise you don’t do nuance but come on....

Youre the one who posted it on here despite it being bullshit.

That was the post on here where I first saw it. I then talked about it in terms of comparisons of daily death rates with Belgium with respect to a lag. So you are wrong. As per.
