Some pretty interesting new research coming out tracing the origin of the virus.

Pretty much puts to bed the recent theories floating about that it was made in a lab. Also, it appears it was more likely to have originated in intensive animal factory farm than the wet market. Turns out scientists have been raising the alarm for years.

Not a bad article that, obviously I don't know how true it is, but no good can come, long term, of intensive animal farming I'm sure most of us would agree.

I think generally though only the insane and conspiracy theorists really believe it to be a man made thing, that has been unleashed into the world.............unless of course we're talking about 5G infrastructure, because that could be what's causing it

Aye - please open the schools!!

What are schools actually doing over here?

Daughter has to produce a video lesson and then be online 6 hours to answer questions from her class

Seems a lot less organised over here

I do agree though, schools HAVE to return, one way or another

Without schools, many can't return to work

We have a site in Wales, we have just been instructed we cannot reopen that until 5th May.

which would align with maybe another three weeks lockdown announced tomorrow?

I still think many of these dates aren t so much, untils as not before

If that make sense

As I’ve said before it’s 4 months minimum til schools reopen up here so there must be a plan somewhere

Home schooling is shit. It benefits no-one in reality. Being honest, I was doing maths with my 13 year old lad earlier and the online tutorial was teaching me as well as him. I'm shite at Maths.

The kids simply cannot afford to miss 3 months.

Keep cinemas/pubs etc closed by all means, but schools need to go back as soon as possible.

Well the person to tell us is @only1swanny as he will be getting the heads up when they are reopening well before anyone else I would imagine

and from what’s he’s said there is no sign of it?

The unions have written to the Department of Education asking for a plan or guidelines, nothing has come back as yet.

The unions would more than likely take a large hand in trying to prevent it as it's simply too risky.

A school the size of the one I work in, has 1500 students, and it's impossible to follow social distancing, Primary school would be even worse and harder to follow.

I don't expect to be back before September.

Most people I've heard talk about it seem to think no way are schools returning before September.

As pointed put above, what that does with regards to child care, who knows, as you'd hope the parents are back at work before September

Let’s see how that pans out

my concern is that If it’s September companies simply won’t get going again

once they open workers will be taking more time off for childcare it will have a massive impact

Plus the chancellor will have to throw more money in for meal vouchers

then you have vulnerable kids

so on

Rumours doing the rounds among teacher folk is early June.

Would make sense to me. After what would have been the May half term. Last 6 weeks of the year.

Allows childcare providers that would usually run through school summer hols to open too.

I honestly hope they do,

but at the same time, putting 30 kids in a small classroom is asking for trouble,

I'd imagine partial school openings first

year 10 and year 6 for transition time

Possibly year 7, as 11/12 is that age where parents might still feel the need to stay at home..

I have no idea with Primary school,
