Well my Mrs is going back part time when her furlough ends. We've got the youngest in full time nursery already. As before and after school clubs are unlikely to be happening it's probably going to be 3 full days worth of hours split over 4 days.

That's 2 days worth of tax receipts down the pan plus the £250 we spent on out of the school clubs plus a days nursery being dropped when it happens all lost from the economy.

And we're relatively lucky! Big unemployment shit storm heading our way.

Im seeing more and more people/parents saying they’re not having or allowing their kids to have the vaccine. I wonder how schools will react to that?

She's going on about "they won't be injecting no vaccine in me or my kids... this things all made up anyway, do you know anyone who's died?? It's just the flu"...

They can go to conspiracy club schools were they get taught how to spot UFOs, set fire to 5G masts, shoot from grassy knolls, impersonate Paul McCartney and recite the David Icke mantra." Bill Gates and the Queen are reptiles from the Draco constellation"

Seems to be the thing doesn't it? We're regressing as a species again!

There's already a shortage of engineers, going to be even more required I bet. My lad's doing engineering GCSE, he reckons it's quite difficult, but interesting.

What school?

Don't remember engineering being an option for mine.

That said, don't suppose they can offer everything.

We live near Parbold/appley bridge, the school is in Orrell, St Peter's, near the M58 M6 interchange. First year theyve offered it.

Parbold and it's big hill!

When the polar ice caps have shrunk even more, I reckon there'll be a decent deep water harbour there. :)

Anyway, back on point, does he know what he wants to do yet?

My lad is walking his GCSEs, and should go on further, but he says he doesn't want to, which is fair enough.

Can't get him to focus properly on looking into apprenticeships though. Not quite grasped the real world fully yet.

Think there's some of that but also some concern if they somehow can blast a vaccine out in 9 months when they usually take 2-5 years of human testing.

I'd sooner be having an antibody test to see if I've already had it rather than a vaccine at this moment in time.

I'm sure sharelle off the estate is just saying its a lie so she can stay on furlough til October though.

They can't. No way you'll be getting a vaccine by September. You might get one this time next year - and that's only because we're working with a sense of urgency we've never had before.

And leave my Sharelle out of this. She's a fucking diamond! :)

So until then...

Stay alert

Wear a mask or don't wear a mask

Go to work if you're not on furlough or be unemployed from October if you won't

Wash your hands

In the future, nanotechnology will allow us to be implanted at birth with a microscopic electronic capsule containing a lethal agent - it will float harmlessly through our bodies during life unless we transgress.

Then some bureaucrat somewhere will pull up our file and click on 'RELEASE TOXIN'...

Have you two got me on ignore?

The first post is a summary of the learning I'd deliver when PHSE touched upon vaccinations.

When we had our TB vaccs at school, well, the bumps on my HEEF (sp?) test came up, so I decided I had immunity - I did get a second opinion though, off my mate, before I snuck off for an early dinner from Eustace Street chippy.

Anyway, I've never had TB and I don't have an ugly scar on my arm either.

A bloke in the pub told me these teenage innoculations only last about ten years anyway, so everyone who had one (vaccination at school) could probably still get it I bet.

We were the last lot to be done an' all - well, they were - my easily led colleagues...

Well I had the jab, and over the years I've walked through fields full of cows and never got it.

Nor from the community- so it must be a very super duper one.

Haha yep the big hill. On a clear day you can see from north wales to blackpool tower. On a shit day you can see only see Skelmersdale.

My lads the same, he thinks he's going to be a guitarist  in an indie band at the moment.  He's good at art, music, maths and technical stuff, so trying to push him down music technology, sound engineering, something like that.

He thinks his younger brother will be a pro footballer and sort him out. With the wages bwfc are likely to be able to pay in the near future, I very much doubt it.

Missus has an apprentice training agency (ATA) in the east mainly for construction apprenticeships and the model is to interview applicants with potential employers and if they like someone the missus employs them (not the construction company) and effectively does a contract with the "host company", does the PAYE, pastoral care, arranges college for day release or block training etc so the employer only has to train them, sign off timesheets and pay a monthly bill based on hours worked.  If the contract is for e.g. a year, and the employer wants rid after that time, missus keeps paying them, keeps sending them to college and places them with another employer so they are guaranteed to complete. The reason for this is that colleges will fill classes with kids who have no job who then get their NVQs and have to sign on or employers lay off their apprentices half way through their training when work goes quiet so the missus ensures they complete and get on the job training. In the NW there isn't a similar scheme so I reckon your lad needs to get a job with an employer who is happy for him to get his qualifications. What he shouldn't do is go to college without having secured a job first - I've seen how that works out.
