Hospitalisations & deaths are exactly what we need to be counting.

Otherwise, tell us how many folk have cancer, AIDS, heart disease etc etc

You can't catch cancer or heart disease down the pub though just by standing near someone

AIDS depends on the pub

I have for sometime wondered why deaths took a back seat to cases

I think Reporting an increase in Cases is a reminder it's still here and potent and not going away

If you say there's only 8 deaths today people think it's over and do what they want

They estimated 100k new cases a day in the community before we locked anything down.

We're going to be fucking about in and out of lockdown for 6 to 9 more months. It's going to be a mega shit show and there'll be low deaths and a fucked economy.

Anyone found to be travelling to a different postcode just so they can go to the pub should be fined.

Im not so sure

I felt this lockdown was intended as a shot across the bows of pubs rather than the folk who go in them

Why shouldnt i go for a few beers in manc with another couple over the weekend?

Outside

Is that legal, i honestly cant keep up

I have little doubt that you'd be responsible, just as I would. But if you and I are doing it then every fucker will do it, including those who are spreading it by not being responsible.

Is it legal - you know it’s not

is it unreasonable? No as you’re not a (complete) dick.

can everyone be trusted to behave? No.

And therein lies the problem. If it’s ok for one it’s ok for everyone. In which case keep the pubs open in Bolton as otherwise it’s pointless and it’s just going to spread it to Manchester etc.

You're not supposed to meet up with anyone anywhere who isn't from your household or support bubble

Just back from Asda Blackburn road , double figures people wandering about with no masks on

no one ever gets challenged by staff or security

yesterday in parliament we were being singled out as the worst spot in the country

They’re paid minimum wage. I wouldn’t either.

I was in tesco this lunchtime and 4 coppers wandering round with masks on getting sandwiches etc for lunch. people walking round with no masks on. Police said fuck all. Why should a shop worker say anything when our own law enforcement don’t give a flying fuck. They’ve been like this since the start of the pandemic. Useless lazy cunts

just been to the local shop, same story. 6 or 7 in there, none with a mask on. Absolute fucking morons.

It really shouldn't need policing by shop staff.

A few weeks back I felt a bit snotty, like I might be getting something. Went on the website and checked the procedure. Didnt actually have one of the key indicator symptoms so didn't bother.

Right as rain within a day.

It seems some are playing the system a bit.

Understandable though when you’ve got to stay in for 14 days after coming back from holidays.

Mate’s lad was climbing the walls after 5 days so went and got tested. Got the all clear so started going out again. Not following the letter of the law but in his mind he wasn’t putting anybody at risk so got on with his life.

Aye, hence me saying it shouldn't need policing.

Everyone knows when going into shops they should wear a mask but too many think it doesn't apply to them. That sort of attitude means we're gonna be stuck with this for a long time to come.

It also means I can't go for a pint or even have a beer in a mate's garden for the foreseeable and that's what's really pissed me off.

You can have a beer in your mate's garden, though.

Just that he/she can't be there with you!

it all seems half arsed to me

if those dicks from up Bury road decide to jump on a tram in Radcliffe to have a few scoops in Manchester on Saturday there wont be any coppers at the station to challenge them

or from anywhere else in Bolton for that matter , loads go these days on the train for an afternoon session

Finished my working day over Rochdale way and one of my mates works over there. Quick phone call and we met for a couple pints there before heading home. Probably against rules but sat outside, either end of a table. Don't feel I've done wrong.

Spoke to my mate who lives in France and works in a bar. Says he doesn't have to do too much shouting at folk to play by the rules until late on. They have to wear masks in bars there unless sat at table. Difference is, he says the police are out in force checking, 180 euro fine for both offender and bar owner on first offence rising to 1000 euro for second. Too heavy handed or fair enough and what we should be doing??

We had another one of the very special brand of pricks at work yesterday - refused to wear a mask, said he was entitled to come in the shop, said he was exempt, said we would lose a big customer, asked if were happy to throw money away, got told yes, put a mask on and came in and bought some stuff.

Why not just put one on and save 10 minutes of aggro if you're going to do it in the end?

It’s how it is in most places up here that to be fair. If you’re moving about the pub wear a mask. It’s just second nature now.
