If I understand correctly we are still under European approval for any vaccine until we leave the EU. Basically they use a European state as a reference country that then allows approval across all states (can be good, can be bad, but that’s a separate argument). Once that’s gained you’re then looking at manufacturing being in place with all its QA/QC demands. Then you have supply chain and how it’s distributed. Then you have the problem of who will administer the vaccine. Then you have the problem of who gets it, where and when Granted, a lot of this stuff will happen in parallel rather than sequentially but personally I’m not holding out much hope for anything this year. Just a fleeting glimpse yesterday, but another trial in the uk with synthetic ones or some such. Maybe peelyfeet can shed some light, but it might take the weight off you donating. Nope, because when I had it they were only offering tests to people who were admitted to A&E. (Mid March) Their screening process and the nurse at the donation place were happy that I'd had symptoms.
