Cases in Bolton up 8% now. Something going on and council are investigating. Horwich and Doffcocker accounting for most of the new cases.

Horwich? Can’t believe that!

Its getting back that will be the issue.

Anyway, an interesting little aside: radio 4 put a question to a couple of expert types- what is the volume of covid 19 virus "particles" in the world currently?

One was a mathematician, the other had more in depth knowledge of things virus related. Remarkably similar answers though, and taking the virus mon's estimate as being the closest, the answer is:

160 ml.

About half a can of coke.

Incredible.

All this fuss and it's just half a can of flu

Nothing to do with her job, i dont think

Shes in the same group as my 49 year old copper mate who is also athsmatic

I dont think having had covid it precludes you getting a jab, so i would expect you to get a call sooner than you thought

Which is why i shared it  :)

Mrs Swanny has had hers

38 year old teacher. Had mild asthma but the first bout if 'covid ' turned it into what they call brittle asthma which is basically triggered really easily.

Was hospitalised again with confirmed covid just before Xmas but still high priority for a jab.

Did wonder this. I reckoned it would be the size of a football.

Seems I was massively out

Actually editing this..

The 160ml will be from reported data, so many countries are cooking the books and bodging figures.. reckon I'm right..

No piss taking I’m genuinely interested and surprised, I didn’t know this at all. Anything to do with being a teacher as well?

I’m the same (moderate asthma controlled with brown and blue inhalers) as are 2 of the kids. Does this apply to me? All of us? Does it count if you’ve been positive?

Probably makes sense to have a chat with doctors doesn’t it

I’m the same and rang my doctors to try and get one but just told by the pleasant lady that I’ll be contacted when I’m due.

for me people should have been encouraged to go and work for supermarkets and other key sectors that needed additional man power absolutely. Anything else shouldn’t have been allowed other than to make up your wage to the same level as it was pre furlough. But I’m a capitalist pig after all. I just don’t like others having opportunities to earn more money that I’m not afforded

Nothing too capitalist about that - just a very well balanced view.

Too many people milk systems (can’t blame them though - shouldn’t be able to be milked so easily).

I keep saying that More or Less is the only programme that has consistently got me through the last year to get to the actual facts. If folks haven't, go to BBC Sounds and listen.

Is furlough actually still a thing

As in not having to do some work to qualify

If so, i reckon its in danger of being a negative

Folk would be better getting actively looking now

My other half is still on furlough, team of three, loads of great new clients got over the last year, huge brands but can't start work until the sector starts up again. Her job isn't in danger.

I'm now on flexible furlough two days a week so I can do hone schooling.

So, aye, it's still a massive thing.

That's not capitalism, that's not grasping the situation for many industries.

I assume everyone in the leisure and entertainment industries must be on furlough?

Plus the flexibility of the scheme means people can home school,

No idea on numbers but I’d guess there’s millions still using it

That was how you framed your post, I was just saying it's got bog all to do with which economic strata you assign yourself to, is all.

My views on it could well be aligned (they’re not) and also incorrectly linked by people.

ive no issues with the concept I just think it’s been Exploited by some as it’s been too easy for them to do.

it’s also clearly offered unfair opportunities to people in reality. But nothing is perfect and it’s kept a lot of honest hard working people afloat in very difficult times which I would rather have had than millions more unemployed.

Apparently still absolutely millions of folk still on furlough or flexi-furlough, over 8M as of the start of January

Personally, I only know about 4 people on full furlough, but I know at least 10 on this flexi-furlough malarkey

don't worry, the unemployment is coming as soon as the furlough scheme stops I'd have thought,,,,,,,,,

I know a girl (natural 36c but slim) she's a real girly girl but appearances are deceptive as she's a 100% Socialist...(champagne and creme de cassis variety).

She gave up her job interpreting for some faceless corporate bastards to retrain as a STLS Level 4, the lad she supports has all manner of things that make him vulnerable so he's been shielding at home 90% of the time.

He has a real rapport with her so she's retained on 80%...

Got another job at a well known supermarket, upstairs.

Another mutual friend, a wheeler-dealing type (who's never been busier buying up stuff off the previously well-heeled for buttons) is giving her another sideline helping him for cash in hand.

She's almost doubled her income for less work...

It's changing her, I bumped into her last night at (another) supermarket and she was giving a right mouthful to some beggar.

It gave me the horn.
