We’ve had lateral flow tests at work introduced a few weeks ago, to be done twice a week. Everyone’s happy, gives us and colleagues peace of mind...

Found out today, that one person (union rep) has refused to take them.

A few colleagues have asked why and they’ve refused to answer why.

Young kid who works closely with said person, said the reasons they’re not taking the test (Union rep) are...they’re feeling pressured into taking it, they don’t trust it and that it’s a Tory trick to divide the work force..turn the staff against one another.

I know the type - militant pricks who will be the first to go on strike over unsafe conditions. Can’t stand them.

I personally would lockdown until after Easter, let's not keep making the same mistakes, plus you need 2 jabs, 12 weeks (3 months) apart.

Let's not undo all the good work with the vaccine rollout.

It's a shitter, but I'm just hoping by the start of next football season (August) we are allowed back in grounds and on the piss.

I think this is probably the way forward on balance.

Given vaccinated people can still catch the virus, hospital admissions and deaths will more likely drive the decisions now. Although there is a lag here especially on deaths the fact we have vaccinated the most vulnerable they will eventually drop dramatically hopefully.
The biggest game changer would be if they can show vaccinated people are less likely to pass the virus on. From listening to the scientists I get the felling they think it will but need some data to prove it.

The brewery hierarchy seem to they will be.

I heard a pub nearby is planning to open it's outdoor area only

If they do open to some degree, before most have had two jabs and with plenty not having had one then they either need to introduce some sort of ID system, or, not be surprised when it spikes again and they have to shut again

They can't leave it to common sense again, that's for sure

Outdoor opening on sunny days in April in pubs like the one you described with unvaccinated folk piling in is asking for it

Just spent 30 seconds looking at Steve Baker’s Twitter feed. Seems to be him and bunch of MP mates going on about getting weddings going again. Covid-secure weddings from March 8 and “normal” weddings from May 1. Don’t know where to start... Why weddings? Could think of 100 things more important right now. And why name a completely made up date as the definitive time when it will be ok to be back to normal? This would be funny if it weren’t for the fact that these idiots are actually helping run our country.

Good

And if you dont want to go, stay at home

And if you want to go, go

I just hope this time they time it right, don't rush in too soon, and there are some sort of rules or restrictions in place that mean it's safe for everybody

Last thing anyone wants is a u turn brought in by rising infections due to poor timing and callous behaviour

Because the callous behaviour will happen, so they need to time it right

I know someone who used Eat out to help out like it was the only option he had for food.

He then blamed the government for that causing the next lockdown.

People are thick as fuck.

Common sense doesn’t exist and it certainly doesn’t at a cellular level.

The irony is that a non-sentient virus is probably smarter than half the people it infects.

Just keep restrictions until a few weeks after schools have gone back. Assess it then.

Surely with everbody vaccinated who needs to be vaccinated a form of herd immunity will take place.

Youve naff all chance of People isolating just because their taste has gone or any other form of mild symptoms.

It's all about the hospitals at the end of the day. If theyre cracking on as normal nobody will give a fuck about having a cough or being ill for a bit.

Just like noro virus or generic flu. Itll still spread like fuck but as long as nobodies dying and the hosptial are safe who will give a toss?

With the vaccine kicking about for those that need it, its just like any other illness surely.

Pretty sure there are folk on here that leveled that sort of criticism at the government’s EOTHO scheme yet used it themselves. and no I won’t be naming names. They know

Some folk are in siege mentality almost a doomsday mode, let’s hope Johnson isn’t one, the signs aren’t good though, let’s hope someone gives him a shake before feb 22nd.

Listened to the doctor in Israel yesterday he seemed to think the evidence they’d found is that the vaccine stopped the transmission.

Ask your sister if she knows when jet2 will come to that conclusion

Obvs, they will want to keep my money as long as poss

Spoke to my sister

Jet2 are tentatively saying June for resumption of flights, maybe around 50% of normal.

But all depends on the Spanish authorities getting the vaccine right their end.

Vaccine passports a must according to them

You know full well the unions will be all over this.

Bad visions of fuckers spending two weeks at home on a jolly with a cough when theres no little or no threat to the NHS and general populace.

Spain is going to be a tricky one.

Based solely on what Jet2 are saying to their staff (which isn’t much), it looks like they are expecting a lot of aggro at both ends with testing, proving a vaccine has been given and general fucking about.

The Spanish can’t afford to block the English, but if they start getting spikes in tourist spots, you know what’ll happen.

Im sure there’ll be flights, but for once the English aren’t likely to be the problem.

The second wave started in August at the same time as the Eat out to help out. The second wave in Germany, France, Spain and the Czech Republic (I haven’t checked other countries) also started at the same time.

Our government being criticised for not giving an end date to restrictions. None of the other countries are either.
Because we are ahead with the vaccination programme we will probably come out sooner than most although not soon enough for some on here.
