Surely with everbody vaccinated who needs to be vaccinated a form of herd immunity will take place.

Youve naff all chance of People isolating just because their taste has gone or any other form of mild symptoms.

It's all about the hospitals at the end of the day. If theyre cracking on as normal nobody will give a fuck about having a cough or being ill for a bit.

Just like noro virus or generic flu. Itll still spread like fuck but as long as nobodies dying and the hosptial are safe who will give a toss?

With the vaccine kicking about for those that need it, its just like any other illness surely.

I dunno quite how it all works, but my suspicion is that if you have a load of people vaccinated, and a not so insigificant amount who refuse, then that may force the virus to mutate to stay alive - it might get stronger for example and seek out those who aren't vaccinated

or it might not

I'm not living in fear, but I can happily wait till I've had two jabs before trying a pub or restaurant, and till then will happily sitting on the sidelines and watch things unfold

I reckon there'll be more twists and turns yet

Me too.

Gaffs like the greek island wont give a flying fook.

Soon as we can travel there'll be destinations flooded with our lot.

Getting there and back won't be the issue.

I suspect the fun and games begin once we get home and quarantine rules are still in place.

The problem will be the non-vaccinated.

As Zico says, there are a few chapters left yet and we've seen enough curveballs to know that more are very likely yet.

Aye deffo. I certainly wouldn't letting folk flocks overseas any time soon.

The way the population is bubbling at the minute though every fucker will run for the hills at the first sign of easing restrictions.

The idea there will be some form of restrictions on day to day life going in to the summer is bollocks.

Itll be a fuckin free for all. Folk have had enough.

To a large extent yes.

But the group doesn't seem to see it like that, from what I can see.

Fwiw, I'm convinced there is more concern over new variants emerging than is being portrayed, understandably- just a couple of quick comments from whitty last night got me wondering.

I see it as a case of getting the UK vaccinated, cases down as soon as possible and then stamping down, with sequencing, on anything new.

Allow the country to function internally, with continued restrictions on international travel.

3 contributors on newsnight last night, and a lady explained it well. Whilst cases are high, just one new emergent strain could put the vaccination programme right back.

I think that’s what we are trying to do.

Probably the most realistic perspective.

And nowt we can do about it!

It's mutated again according to some news outlets.

Similar to the Kent variant, so shouldn't be an issue.

I know fuck all about viruses (well, I know more than I did this time last year I spose), but I reckon it's burning itself out. Not a single zombie.

You must be older than I thought. I had you younger than me.

Just turned 50, scary as it sounds. I get the impression it's largely dependent on how your GP is getting on, Harwood must be allocated fucking loads as everyone is old. A few don't want it and bingo.

Yet another mutation of the kent one, which has gone a bit like the SA one.

Got to stamp these out and stop them becoming prevalent.

For me, it's almost inevitable there will still be restrictions into the summer. What level, we'll have to see.

The SA variant can’t be that bad, if you take a look at the SA numbers.

That's not really the issue. Concerns over the efficacy of the current vaccines would potentially leave more people susceptible to it, which means higher numbers in the community. Death rates might not be any higher than now, but whilst infections are relatively high (above what they'd like) then hospitals still have problems and there is still a risk of further mutations.

If we have to look to use a modified vaccine now (or fairly soon) then we jump back a while.

Get everyone sorted ASAP, and get moving again with low numbers. Then the manufacturers have time to develop modified vaccines according to need and get them ready for an annual booster.

Did you notice, on more than one occasion, the chaps doing the briefing mentioned a possible top up of a modified one in the autumn?

thing about these lockdowns is its getting to the point were politicans and famous people are crawling the walls.

"just put on a [s]mask[/s] zoom play , its not that much trouble, and its just the same"

the average normie can take a lot more shit. think a lot of this "if you dont get a vaccine then no football for you" isnt about being worried about other people dying or getting ill, but more about missing holidays and other normal stuff.

why should *i* give a fuck if piers morgan (or some other totalitarian twat) cant leave his house ?

their will is being broken , and now its mutating all over the place, they cant see an end. and thats frightening.

I don’t care what anyone says, a lot of people will be enjoying furlough.

A lot.

A girl At one of my clients who almost shut down their entire office and furloughed most office staff (despite me being told that it couldn’t happen on here when it actually did happen, but I digress) she has asked to go back on furlough  as she wants to lose weight she put on at Xmas. so wants 6 weeks off to spend going up rivvy etc and burning it all off  genuinely that’s her reasoning

she loved having 4 months off last summer and says she would be happy if it lasted all summer again

True, plus also I don't buy into this "the country is on the edge" and "people have had enough" bollocks either, I think we even had somebody on here the other day saying they'd rather be dead than have to carry on like this for much longer, and we have people suggesting this isn't living, it's "just existing" - I've spoken to plenty of my mates who, whilst they don't enjoy the current situation, they all understand why we're in it and will stick to it for as long as they have to, if that means we stay as we are for another 3, 4 or 6 months then so be it

I think that wasn’t the only thing you attempted to tell me but I digress

if a business decides to close due to the pandemic then people get furloughed or let go. That’s a fact. What are they going to do turn up to work when it’s shut?

we furloughed about 20% of our uk staff at some point  last year across the group. they didn’t get a choice.  they were told they were being furloughed. Same with a number of my clients as well. That’s another fact.

Companies have done what you tried to tell me they couldn’t do.
so my facts are straight. How about yours?
