One for peely, whats the latest estimate as to vacced plus already had it

Obvs, we shouldn't double count, so sub 60 plus the vaccined?

Realistically, it's likely that about 14 million of the uk population have had it, and 17.5 million have had one shot, so back of a fag packet, probably 4 million of them have had both the virus and the vaccine, so about 27.5 million are safe for now, which leaves 40 mill who aren't, we could get that down to 30 mill immedialtley safe if we waited until after Easter, with another 5 mill who will have been vaccinated and would be safe a few weeks later, when the antibodies kick in - seems like a no brainer to me, I dont understand why you'd risk the health of 10 million people, many who are going to be  the age of secondary school parents.

why wouldn't you let the 27.5 million safe have more freedoms first - get the parents vaccinated, oldest first, then send the kids back in - seems bonkers to me, for the sake of a few weeks, after all we've gone through.

with their track record I'm not so confident

for me infections should be the factor, because whilst there are covid patients filling up wards, whether they die or not, it puts others at risk

the several people I know directly or indirectly who died of covid got it going into hospital for something else

the old and vunerable are still at risk if they can't go to hospital to get treated, or have to risk it, until they get their 2nd jab, and that's some time off yet

schools re-opening was a big factor in the spike last time, we finally seem to be getting somewhere, so now they want to do it again, and for me, we're not where we need to be yet for such a change in the rules

And you can make that choice and stay in if you choose to mate.

im becoming more comfortable with it now so will be enjoying my freedoms when it’s allowed.

So I’m the only one ok with them going back on the 8th??

snowflake fuckers

haha - if you do the maths, It appears daft mate - if you want everyone back in school fair enough, it has lots of dvantages,  but why not vaccinate all the teachers and parents to make it really low risk beforehand - by end of easter, which means 2 weeks more of online school for most, they could do an extra 15 million - that would be all the teachers and schol workers plus the vast majority of parents.

It's taken us a year to get 14 million with antibodies from natutral infection, all the lockdowns and restrictions, all the shit - we could literally do the same by having 2 more weeks online learning and having a tragetted vaccine progmamme - makes no sense to me at all.   Some poor fuckers parents are probably going to die for the sake of two weeks in school, and when I say poor, they probably will be, some single parent asthmatic from Breightmet.

All makes sense; I hope the modelling shows that the increase won't be as dramatic as you fear.

The difference this time is those vaccinated v a more transmissible variant.

Just hope the numbers are down quite a bit more within the next couple of weeks.

All back at once is a surprise, so we'll just have to see.

I’m all for early easing but even I think it’s crackers sending all kids back 2 weeks before Easter, it’s as though they want to have another lockdown.

Where’s this 2 weeks from?

this way the kids don’t break up till 1/4 that’s just short of 4 weeks in before breaking up, we all have our thoughts but for me it’s the right thing to do

and grassroots footy end of the month great news👍

If they go back on the 8th, Students at my place are off for Easter 2 weeks later. Obviously different areas have different holiday's, so for some it maybe 3 weeks.

It’s nearly 4 for us which for me it’s more vital they get back

Grass roots football, can’t see it myself, leagues cancelled this season is my best bet.

Many leagues cancelled but at least training and friendly games can happen
