Contactless payments to go to £100

Why? How much extra time does putting a four-figure number in? Isn’t the fact it was set originally at £30 to ensure a fairly low return for card fraudsters?

If you're an unpaid carer, you should be able to book it on the website like Casino said.

I'm early 30s with no medical issues but technically class as an unpaid carer and managed to book last week.

Think it’s more for health/hygiene reasons

but yes it was originally set low for that reason

Is that because of our numbers though, or have they asked other countries if they’ll have us and been told no?

I’m always happy to have a dig at Boris, but doubt this is his call.

This. Partly.

Other nations will make a call as to who is allowed into their nation.

Similarly, until other nations get their vaccine numbers up, our lot are going to be cautious about the risk of importing variants.

I think there’s a lot of collusion between countries, most countries will want us back ASAP but think while they’ll welcome us with open arms our government will intentionally make it difficult for folk to travel overseas.

I want a holiday as much as anyone, I even have a free place in Spain available now. But until I know it’ll be a holiday free of restrictions, masks, long queues and constantly checking for rules, I’ll give it a miss.

It'll be a long time before holidays are "restriction free"

Is guess the government don't want us going anywhere whilst other countries are so far behind with their vaccines, in case, as TMGJ says, we bring back another new variant

Why?

What on earth would be the benefit of denying folk foreign travel without a good reason?

It clearly affects some industries, which means more government support. On that basis, countries everywhere will want travel to commence as soon as its deemed safe to do so.

Germany and a few others are incurring the wrath of the EU because they've closed their borders to their neighbours. Not a decision taken lightly.

Extending furlough to September is really the only clue we need about foreign travel and large scale movement taking place. It’s an industry that will need more propping up.

Ain’t happening. Domestic travel will be ok, but that’s all.

See it as an opportunity to support British businesses and get apprenticeships going in the British travel sector!

Jest as you may, but it may well be something folk will have to adjust to.

Some areas could well be off limits for a long time depending upon vaccine uptake and outbreak numbers/variants.

Surely you'll be buying shares in pontins or similar?

I’m relying on Bitcoin now.

Which is why I’ll never retire.

Baffling why other countries are so far behind us with vaccines. I think only Israel and the yanks are doing well.

How did Germany close it's Borders ? I thought the EU didn't allow that :) The reason Germany have closed their Borders is because Towns along the Borders in France and Czech have got stupidly high levels of Covid at the moment. Technically the Borders aren't closed because you can still get through if you are a Worker and have all the relevant documentation. I have plenty of Czech guys who work for me and they are travelling normally.
