Eldest has come down with man flu; sore throat, blocked nose and usual high temp with shivers.  That's us now having to book a test for him just in case and us all isolating.

Was on radio other day some bod from PHE says if you have a runny or blocked nose or sneezing etc it isn’t covid. But better safe than sorry but she was trying to get people to stop going for tests with cold like symptoms

I agree, it is a usual cold.

However, am I a cunt for making him take a test and wasting valuable resource or a cunt for ignoring advice and potentially spreading Covid?

Got the sore throat and high temp getting tested is absolutely not irresponsible IMO. Irrespective of the other symptoms. Even if the likelyhood is a negative. Let’s have it right, if it’s flu going out could still spread that virus instead right?

High temp/fever is one of the key indicators so perfectly reasonable to get a test.

This time of year its inevitable that such instances will arise.

Not at all. Like I said better safe than sorry. I was merely trying to put your mind at rest mate. I would have one in same circumstances for sure

Numbers will continue to rise,

In a nutshell

1/1000 of the country has tested positive this week (69k positives this week)

The 500k positive tests so far mean that roughly 1 in 140 people have had it.

Obv the numbers in reality will be much higher, due to a-sympomatic, immunity and non-tested

Long way to go to herd immunity

We’ve hit RSV season. Respiratory Syncitial Virus. I spent 8 years working with the Neonatal Intensive Care Units on this. This runs every year from September to March.

Adults get anything from a bunged up nose to a bad cold. Kids get thick sticky shite pouring out their noses and a bad cough. Premature babies end up in ICU

Add this in to the usual flu and it’s normally manageable. This winter is going to be horrendous imo. Who’s got what and who reports what? Can easily see us being overwhelmed in terms of symptom reporting

Completely off their tits numbers not just reserved for premier league games it seems.

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

This is showing 7982 positive tests today.

Is the 22,961 including back dated?

UK is the 5th highest in total tests - 25M.

21st in population size.

Only China (lying bastards), USA, India & Russia (more lying bastards) have tested more than UK.

Doesn't seem that long ago that folk were moaning about UK being shit at testing.......

8/10.....

Now we are shit at adding up.

If the numbers are all wrong how can any decision be made on the evidence ?
