Reading on Spanish website that vitamin D can help ward off corona virus. No idea if true but won’t do any harm.

It doesn’t seem to be helping them so much?

a top divorce lawyer has come out and said isolation between couples will lead to a spike in divorces

Good job I have a man cave

I used to work on the divorce department at work and our busiest time was first couple of weeks after Christmas 😂

Heard there's been a spike if divorces in China too? Might have seen that on here actually, so it's gospel.

We've had one down here suggesting that crushing 8 cloves of garlic in a coffee mug, covering with boiling water for 5 minutes then drinking the resulting brew will ward it off.

Must be based on the 'no fucker will come near you' theory.

Think I’d rather take my chance with the virus. 😂

As I said to the missus, if these theories held any water they would be being shouted from the rooftops by governments around the world.

Just nutjobs making stuff up no doubt. I'll watch for empty garlic spaces at the greengrocers and battles in the vitamin aisles of supermarkets.

Who came up with that, Goths ?

Some Australian/Indian bint I think. I've been thinking of promoting a WWays Covid-19 defence mechanism down here. Rub yourself down with a balloon whilst wearing a tinfoil hat.

Just checked there’s 15 confirmed cases in Lancashire yet there’s 1000s self isolating. Think many folk taking the piss. (Not all I might add)

The Chief Scientific Advisor is quoted today as saying "if we can get this down to numbers, 20,000 deaths and below, that's a good outcome".

I thought he'd been misquoted at first, but he did say it.

Indeed. He's also saying to achieve that we all need follow the rest of his advice in regards to extreme social distancing for vulnerable groups, self-isolating, working from home, avoiding the pub etc. etc. And we'll be doing this on and off for months until well into 2021.

Casino (and Mounts) are sceptical of most of those measures, yet they're predicting even less cases and less deaths. I'm genuinely interested what that confidence is based on.

That’s confirmed cases, they are only testing folk in hospitals, estimate is 50k nationally have it now

We had one guy on here who had all the symptoms but wasn’t in hospital so hadn't been tested, he’s probably had it but not in the 15

I think Vitamin D is just generally good for your immune system rather than being a cure for the virus

Fella on the radio this morning stated the UK has 620k deaths a year, if you add the 20k coronavirus death estimate, it's still relatively small (obviously not for those who are affected).

He did make a valid point in saying that the majority of the 20k would be double counted in that they have underlying health issues and they will have been within the 620k bracket.

The 20k number is the best case scenario if we lock down like Italy, Spain, France and smash the economy to pieces

If we let it run its 250k, some of which will be indirect deaths (heart attacks but can’t get into a hospital etc)

I read this and although I imagine that Iranian prisons are far more spartan surely being in a isolated controlled environment is better than being in society and coming into contact with far more people.

One of my mates works for a cell door company, Cell Security, and got a phone call on his way home last Friday that he had to self quarantine as the cell he’d just been working on was holding a Corona Virus positive prisoner.  Bloody hilarious, he’s always in the pub, gutted the lad 😄

They thought there was 15 cases in Lombardy 3.5 weeks ago. 16,220 yesterday.

It takes 3-5 weeks from infection to death.

Those dying in Italy today (375 per day at the moment) were probably already infected when they thought there was 15 cases.

Peoples views on the severity of this will change once the deaths start rolling in. Which they will. It’s a sobering time

This is about minimising the strain on the NHS so everyone who needs treatment can get it

Why fuck around carrying on as normal only to put more people at risk and place greater strain on the NHS?

That's how people will die

You'll be fine though, particularly if you up your vitamin D intake

But you're not at risk or trying to save the lives of those who are, so crack on

I’m aware of why this is being done and I’m not advocating carrying on as normal, lockdown is obviously last resort and the experts here do not think we are in that position yet.

I have an operation tomorrow so we might slip into the at risk category, but I’ve got my vitamin D stashed in case. 😂
