I would

but we now have 15% off due to either positives or isolating

and the fun hasnt even begun yet

if they get track and trace functioning, long shot :) i think manufacturing will be decimated

My thinking is that we get the old and vulnerable out the way then other restrictions can start to ease, including isolating without symptoms, stuff like that

Am hoping it won't be "everyone" needs vaccinating before we aim to get back to normal

No point in vaccinating the younger and healthier ones first so they can crack on and still spread it to those who's bodies can't cope

Let's face it, soon as the vaccine is out and about loads will fuck off caution anyway

Pointless vaccinating old folks as priority

Having paid taxes for longer than younger folk, perhaps they have earned their protection. Understand the point, and would agree if they could be properly shielded until sufficient vaccine is available, but we dont know how long that would be.

That said, I reckon there is an argument to give it to schools for kids/teachers as they're being kept open, irrespective of what restrictions are in place. Would help protect the old indirectly

I’m easy

But, as kids don’t pass it to teachers, I’d see that as missed opportunity

I think we should vaccinate those with the potential to be most active.

But, nowt I can do about it

Surely if someone has been vaccinated then they can no longer spread it as they have immunity?

I thought that, but Jonathan Van Tam was saying that that's not a given. Yet.

Need more time to see how it works.

Did seem odd, but I'm sure that's what he was saying.

Fair enough

According to this 20m doses on order, with 5m available this side of Xmas....

Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine: ‘Normal life by spring’ after jab stops 9 in 10 infections

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/normal-life-by-spring-after-pfizer-vaccine-stops-9-in-10-covid-infections-hrkth2jss

you’d imagine NHS staff will be first, that’s fair enough (1.2m) along with care workers who look after the vulnerable (1.6m) with the extremely vulnerable (2m) surely next in line. They had to Shield in lockdown 1 so that’s only fair

Beyond that I’d say it’s a bit of a free for all (or should be). Part of the reason Hancock pushed back on the ‘barrington declaration’ was because of long Covid. If that really is as bad as they think it might be then it’s hard to distribute the vaccine based on age alone. After all we’ve all had to observe the same restrictions

I’d say some of the key workers who are unable to self isolate should get it first (Teachers, Supermarket staff, factory workers) then the rest of us at random after that

Normal life by spring? - I think that's being a tad optimistic

That quote is from John Bell, regius Professor of Medicine at Oxford University

If they can get the first 5m done this year with another 15m early 2021 then you’d assume the risk to the NHS would be diminished to such an extent that we would all be in tier 1 at the very least, that wasn’t far off what most would regard as normal life
