What do you think was embarrassing about the questions? When asked about the report from the Royal College of Physicians which said 1 in 4 doctors were having to re-use single use PPE, he spoke of actually what a success it is that they've come up with a clever way which means that's fine.

Then he point blank refused to accept to a caller who's dad had died after speaking about the lack of PPE, that there had been any mistakes made, at any point, at all. Rambled on with a prepared bit of filibustering about funerals.

The guy's got an awful job, and must be knackered, but he's got to do better than telling people its raining when the government have pissed on their legs.

Impartial input?

Yeah, right

So, the point of testing is to see who has got it. Then that person/persons can be isolated to stop them spreading the disease, therefore less people will get the disease.

That is the point of testing.....

Anybody with sympotms is supposed to self isolate

So, im sorry mate, your point doesnt stand up

Testing is not to stop others getting it

Unless we are going to test folk who havent got symptoms...thats when it starts to be useful

But youd want it to be done every day before you leave the house, which isnt happening

It's not perfect

But if we test 100k a day and 10k realise they've got it and isolate, then that's going to reduce the spread

And right now that's all we can do

Contact tracing app/tech is the only way testing to me becomes any use in stopping this. It’s all well me finding out I’ve got it next week. It’s all the people I’ve been in contact with that we also need to isolate. Me on my own is pretty pointless if they’re all infected don’t know and away passing it on.

unless I’ve got this Wrong?

Until we test asymptomatic folk, we learn nothing

Is that on the table?

If not its only any use for getting folk with symptoms back to work or locked down

It doesnt reduce the spread any more quickly than self isolating as we have been told to do

At least someone gets it.

Folk can have it without showing ANY symptoms. But they can pass it on.

If they're tested then they isolate to stop passing it on. It's not rocket science....

But they aren't offering anyone a test without them first having symptoms. And if they are showing symptoms they should be isolating anyway. So where is the gain? All you are doing is ruling out covid in the sick and allowing them to come out of isolation. They should be testing the well not the sick.

I don't understand the skepticism

I assume the more we test, it's because it becomes more widely available

And maybe I get to have one

I feel perfectly fine, went out for a run earlier, then went to Tesco for beer, keep forgetting to put gloves on when I go out and can't remember the last time i washed my hands for 20 seconds

If i test positive tomorrow I'm stopping in

Ive explained it a couple of times

Roll testing out by all means, but until we start testing folk with no symptoms, it doesnt stop the disease spreading

Ive been able to get a test for a bit

But im not been coughing

So ive not had a test

100k tests a day equals 1 test per person every 600 days or so. Or 100k people having a test every day. Until we are doing in the millions daily I cant see how it works. My father in law had 3 last week because they didn't believe he didn't have it. So how reliable is this test anyway?

Aye, up the testing, that's the best we can do

As an aside, I'm not working with them, but I had some business type chats recently with the guy who runs this site

He's selling test kits at £185 a pop and it all looks legit

Assume these are aimed at businesses wanting self isolating staff back ? Can’t see why any right minded person would pay for a test otherwise?

Or football clubs desperate to get a game on?

no, that's too far fetched. 😉
