Roughest Manc or Scouse Area's You Have Worked In.

Recommended Posts

Worked in both Cities in nearly all the suburbs and supped in the pubs near by my workplace at lunchtime. Never had any mither in the sprawling estates of Liverpool, or inner city area. Worked in Moss Side and Hulme, it was a chore getting asked " What are you doing on my turf "

Did a bit of lorry driving on my days off from work. One day, a multi-drop and pick-up run, I needed to go to a bloody big alcoholic drinks logistics company in Liverpool called Trade Team. My sat Nav took me to the road it was on but there was nothing by way of signage (for fairly obvious reasons).

I drove up and down and eventually had to stop and ask a couple of scallys. One of whom jumped on the step so he was up to me and asked, "Why, mister? What you got on the back?" I told him I was just picking up empties to go back to a brewery.

Worked all over the Greater Manchester area on fires and never really had more bother in one area than any other. Some areas had a lot mor car fires than others; the worst was late 90s early 2000s Farnworth and Little Hulton.

I kicked Ken Dodd in the gonads and pinched his tickling stick, handed it to Miami for use later on when he landed back in Bolton.😊

Had the pleasure of doing football in the community work in moss side a few years ago. Parked up and off I went.
Got a few looks off some of the locals walking into a community centre.
Someone robbed my jacket off the back of a chair.

Got back to my car and a few lads scarpered as I got closer, when I got to it there was what looked like a metal ruler jammed down the window, tried to take it out and it was stuck, stupidly tried to put the window down and it smashed, and the thing was still stuck in it. Cost me £60 to get it out and £80 to replace the window.

Somebody showed me that trick off the locals in Gorton, when i locked my keys in the car. used a coat hanger to open the door, no damage done.

in the  early 80's ford sierra and vauxhall astra were the easiest cars to break into without causing any damage.

I think I made it worse. Driving back to Bolton with a smashed window in the middle of November was fun

Norris Green in Scouseland without doubt the scariest place I’ve worked. Didn’t realise at the time that there was a vicious turf war going on

Drove up Princess Parkway through Moss Side and turned right at the brewery to cut through to Oxford Road mid 90s I think. As I turned I saw a lad sprinting across the dual carriageway. Couple of hours later coming back the other way all the roads were closed. That lad had been shot by someone chasing him.

Moss Side fire crews were sent out to a fire which, when they got there turned out to be nothing at all.

On their way back to the station and using walkie talkies,  one crew pointed out the big black lad with an even bigger telly.  Laughing, they got back to the station to find a space where their telly once was.

While at Uni, a mate from Huyton took us into a pub called the Eagle and Child or the Bird and Bastard, as it was locally known.

Landlord picked up a dead mouse from the floor behind the bar and chucked it at one of the locals. He then chucked it back and within a couple of minutes this mouse’s innards were hanging out and they were still chucking it at each other.

Landlord carried on pulling pints all the time. 😳

Manchester “wins” in my experience over the years but only just, had tools and equipment robbed in Withington and Harpurhey, with locals just blatantly coming up to the works van armed with bats and knives and saying, “ we’re taking the stilh saw and compressor “

also had a lad shot attending a breakdown in Gorton, shot in the leg from a nearby property by a known headcase, which tips it Manchester’s way.

Liverpool had someone rob stuff of the back of the pick up as I was waiting at lights, and someone just get in the van at the lights at the east Lancs and said give us a lift in town and wouldn’t get out. Local scallies chucking stones and some little twats demanding protection money or they’d set fire to the cabins. Told to fuck off and to their absolute credit , unlike most teenagers , they did what they promised and set fire to the compound, the dumpers the lot.

As bad as they are, and not relevant to the comparison but both places pale into insignificance when compared to issues we have in Birmingham and the measures we have to take in certain areas there, closed a road once and local known gang member threatened us , quite openly, with a gun ,  reported to police and they said, yeh, don’t bring it on yourself, have it open when he comes back and make arrangements to let him through, so, we paid for gate men to open the road, stop the work and escort this one bloke through each day for the 6 weeks we were there. We also paid for security guards day and night from a security firm, ran by this guy we were under threat from.

Every single person we dealt with was either part of this lads mob and used it to take flags, stone, bits of scrap or scared of him and told us just let em take stuff etc.  Police wouldn’t come near , closest I’ve seen to a real no go area and there’s loads like that there.

Fucking hell, reminds me of an outing I went on with the now MrsD. We were staying at a hotel near Edgbaston but attending a long weekend event in Birmingham.

Wifey decided she was hungry so could we have a drive out to get something.

Off we went in my car (2.0 Ford Capri) and found a Kentucky Fried Chicken. Parked up and went in; not a single white face! Everyone in there just stopped their chatter and looked at us. The bloke behind the counter, which was protected by a big sheet of perspex asked what we wanted and gave us our food with the warning, "Don't sit eating this outside, just get in your car and drive."

Nice area Wandsworth! Handsworth; not so much!

Wasn’t there a Vauxhall where if you took out the hazard switch turned it upside down and put it back in it started up the car

I think you mean Handsworth, worked on Star City 20 years ago in Netchells, but nearby Washwood Heath was a proper no go area when driving through.

Is it just me that finds this all a bit depressing? Cunts ruling their area and absolutely nothing done by the police? Can you imagine what the poor fuckers who live there have to deal with day in day out? We are supposed to be a civilised country ffs.
