0 - 0 against Accrington Stanley and people are getting excited.

Shows how far we have fallen...Accrington Stanley ... and our keeper is our MOM

Lincoln city ran us ragged a few weeks ago.

Just saying .

I cannot see any positives from yesterday .

A lot were expecting us to lose, against a team that put 7 past us earlier.

We drew. Thats a (small) step in the right direction.

Matthews gets stick because he's prone to at least one major fuck-up per game and he doesn't command his 6 yd box on crosses.

Today, neither of those really happened, so he had a good game.

As if to prove a point I've just watched first half hour of Everton v Man U and if Matthews was in goal for both teams it would be 0-0 now, but its 1-1.  Those 2 are the worst of the lot in the Prem for me if we're talking regular cock ups, but there are plenty others guilty week after week.

Yet just seen a world class save from Pickford there. Matthews wouldn’t have got near it apart from picking it out the net . Stop talking pish man

Nobody was questioning Matthews making saves, the criticism of him is the "cock ups" or basic mistakes (eg that comical goal at Wigan).  I'm saying he makes less than most.  If you disagree fair enough, its my opinion that most others are worse from what I see on TV most weeks. Of course De Gea and Pickford make great saves, beyond what Matthews can do, I also see that they are responsible for too many conceded.  Especially when you consider they play for clubs that are often better than their opponents, they aren't having to make 12 saves a match like our keeper for the last 3 seasons.

I don’t criticize Matthews. Never have never will. I don’t think he’s that bad.
ive an issue with the use of two top keepers as an example of why our keeper maybe isn’t bad. It’s just a strange way of making your point thats all

You're right, none of our outfield players were better than L Murphy.  6 out of 10 was as good as it got, and Murphy's passing was more consistently accurate than normal.  Dodoo 6 out of 10 for 1st half, struggling to think of anyone else above 5, definitely Lowe's least effective home game under Hill and probably Politic too.

Lowe might have been a bit more effective if he’d received the ball a little more. Four times he’d ran 40-50 yards to overlap and only got the ball once and put in the best cross of the game, sat right on the edge of the six yard box with the right pace and height to put doubt in the keepers mind. Not saying he’s particularly good in that position, but he offered an outlet and did especially well defensively.

Must be so frustrating to work with this team day in, day out. Dodoo, L Murphy, Politic and Crawford all showed good bits of play at various points, yet completely anonymous for long periods.

Fair enough but I dont have them down as top keepers any more, because of their errors.  My idea of current top keepers are Schmeichal, Pope, Henderson, Dubravka (Newcastle), Heaton; great shot stoppers, great in the air and commanding the box and most important not gifting goals once a month.  I genuinely dont rate De Gea because as well as mistakes he's renowned for being below average when under pressure in the air.

Nah Emmanuel is a liability, although I'm big believer that playing players in the right positions is imperative...

so on that score, Lowe is better, although would sooner have him in midfield , just shows how bad Emmanuel is.

I'm watching a different player, looks decent to me, God we've had far worse in last few years.

Me too.  Its called playing players in their correct position, it'll never catch on.  Try Politic centrally and Bryan at the back while your at it.

Yeh exacly starting to feel like last season with regards to that sort of stuff, players getting Parkied. They come in playing their natural game after 5/10 games they're "rubbish" etc. It's like our club has a bad habbit of making standard Championship and League 1 players worse.

Players like both Murphy's, Lowe, Hobbs, Nsiala, Bryan, Crawford, Emmanuel etc are all decent League 1 players. The entire team are playing way below standards and have been doing for months.

Same phenomenon seen at struggling but big premiership clubs. Player goes to Arsenal or Man U from a smaller club having looked amazing. At big club they struggle to shine. Same thing here I think.

Ok point one none of those players have played in a team made up of cast offs , injury prone, out of contract misfits at a club as fucked as ours before.

Secondly lets look at these "decent' players individually.  Luke Murphy- has never shown anything for me even in his first 5 games or so and wouldnt be playing if we had any sort of squad. Daryl done ok scoring goals in a very poor team so don't class him as gone 'rubbish" and thats all hes had to do probably at other clubs- as he doesn't have much else to his game thats obvious.

Hobbs is just injury prone unfortunately. Its why Forest got rid and why he was available. Be same for him anywhere

Nsala was hounded out at Ipswich Lambert said he needs to get away. Manager speak not good enough fir us.

Bryan and Crawford have looked decent for us, Crawford unlucky with the injury.

Emmanuel again not deemed good enough by another club in our division defensively suspect there and here.

I dont buy it that Hillcroft have this team playing well below 'standard". Folk were saying same about our terrible team in the Championship.

This result was far from a positive.

Against a very poor Accrington side that we dominated simply by turning up we failed to create anything clear cut and still nearly managed to throw the game away at the end. Sure we had a lot of the ball first half in and around their area but they allowed us to simply by being crap and we did nothing with the freedom and possession allowed to us.

I will say it's nice to see the defenders and/or keeper not falling over themselves to give the opposition a goal for once, midfield and attack still lack impetuous or identity though.

Nothing clear cut?

Politic missed a sitter in the first 50 seconds

One of 4 or 5 in the first half.

Didn't know Stevie Wonder was a Wanderer!

They were ‘crap’ first half because we were better & yes we should have gone in at HT at least a goal up.

They were better second half but this team BEAT us 7-1  ffs.

so I’m taking a small positive from the game

Saturday was rubbish. We had the first 15 minutes. We were never going to score. They were time wasting after 11 minutes.

Crawford looked good on link up play but looks like he needs to find 10 people on his wavelength.

And when did Daryl last win a header?

In the first half he won a lot. In second half they also had a man jumping in front of him. Daryl then stopped jumping and was half turning so was a waste of space.
