Socialising

I don't see the logic in throwing shit at someone buying up pasta in Aldi, if you're then also going to flout the advice by cracking on doing whatever the fuck you want.

Some people on here are extremely confident this is all going to blow over in a fortnight, in which case a couple of weekends drinking at home should be no problem.

Don’t go to bars or clubs or places with other people. Avoid all non essential travel. Practice social distancing. All that applies to everyone.

They've only "strongly advised against" and "recommended". If they do want these behavioural changes to be a success, I think they're going to have to be enforced.

I’ve been off work for 9 days and go back Monday, I’ve only been in the boozer once in that time and can safely say it was a wasted journey as this virus was the topic of conversation.  I’m not just writing this season off, our annual trip to Gibraltar in April off, I think my nephews wedding in Vegas won’t go ahead in August.  My families WhatsApp has gone into overdrive, we are playing the game with the advice given to us.  Socialising is on the back burner with me, in fact I’ve not even been to the shops for over a week.

If (when) my kids’ nursery shuts, it’s going to be a sodding nightmare for me and the Mrs working from home. My parents are in Spain and the in laws are in the “vulnerable” category, so we won’t have any assistance with the childcare.

You have my sympathy. The effect of shutting schools and nurseries is huge but it will have to happen if we want to slow this virus down.

Not booked out but am planning a few drinks with my dad on Friday and a family meal out on Saturday.

As I’m off work for a while I don’t think I’m seeing the full impact of what’s going on.

Not sure what the answer is but If we don’t try to be business as usual then a lot of businesses and institutions will disappear!

We're in the shit here, Johnson needs to stop making out like these are serving suggestions, we need to follow experts advice before this fucks us over, if you're over 70 I would seriously consider isolating yourself before it kicks in for everyone. Everyone else needs to start social isolation

I agree. 'Strongly advise' just does not cut it as people think it doesn't apply to them.

I suspect it will radically change in the next day or so.

Boris needs to be clear.

you cannot “suggest” stuff to 60 million people in a time of national crisis.

Theyvare looking for black & white instructions. Clear, decisive leadership.

Boris is still doing ok, but he needs to bang his fist on the podium, make solid decisions then reassure everyone they’ll be looked after and that once were through it, no one will be penalised because they followed his line.

I didn’t vote Tory but feel a bit for Johnson with a lot of experts saying what he should  or shouldn’t do. This is all fairly new and I don’t think there is a protocol as such without trial and error. I wouldn’t fancy the decision of weighing up lives v the economy surviving?

The answer seems obvious but I bet it’s not as a crash will also be a disaster.

Also people who are trying to score political points off this are in my opinion cock ends who don’t understand the concept of pulling together.

Also people that say Britain is the worst and the people are worse than anywhere in the world need to give their heads a wobble. We are not even close.

Both my Mother and Father in law are over 75 and both continued to go to their volunteer jobs involving public work today. They would not have done so if the message had been less ambiguous.

I dont think people are stupid but they do stupid things or have the attitude of it's for other people this. Looks at the british in benidorm or the fact that newcastle student pubs are rammed full of medical students right now. Was no different abroad, italian cafes were packed till it was too late. Johnson looks well out of his depth but I think corbyn would have been too. It's a bloody hard wicket that needs a really strong leader, I don't think we've got one around, I was impressed with the chancellor yesterday though and in Johnsons defence he is deferring to experts on the whole so fair play to him.

Strongly recommend is quite clear, surely?

Indeed, my in-laws are not stupid people (far from it) but because they are both fairly well for their age they are carrying on as normal like they always have.  These measures need to be enforced more clearly by Boris and very quickly. I'm also of the opinion that so far the governement has done ok but schools need to close and self-isolation of vulnerable and high risk people needs to be mandatory not advisable.

We are nation of alcoholics and fat fuckers.

Theyd have to chain the pubs shut to stop folk going. Any old duffer I’ve encountered this week couldn’t give a fuck about any of this and thinks it’s a load of old bollocks.

meanwhile I’ve just to been to a massive office block full of millennials all stood 10 feet away from each other trying to hold a conversation.

These panic fuckers aren’t remotely bothered about a virus, they’re just worried there’s gonna be no food left to feed their fat horrible greedy faces.

we are a nation of cunts who don’t care about anyone else but ourselves.
