It's the players and them being told not to take cuts straight away that is distasteful. Hopefully that gets resolved by the weekend. Can understand clubs furloughing other staff, some of it will be necessary as they can't necessarily come in because of distancing requirements. Leyther_Matt
Taken a while, but I'm now in. Albeit with work topping up the 20% so definitely can't grumble about that.

Agreed It’s a payment to support businesses who have seen huge revenue decreases because of the social distancing measures Football players are a funny one, technically they could be furloughed you’d imagine, but then again they are also assets on a balance sheet. Furloughing could allow them to walk out of a contract and re sign for another club in a few months with a large signing on fee You'd imagine the PFA agreed some sort of deferred wage scheme soon enough. Not sure how that could work in the lower leagues though With no guarantee of sport resuming any time soon, it’s a mess

Not in Crawley
So yesterday our part of the company furloughed the majority of the staff with only a few of us kept on, from my section there is just the director and two of us as the senior account directors whilst work has dropped off mine has now gone up. They are paying the extra 20% I think they’ll keep an eye on it and I could be in the next phase but at the moment I’m on annual leave so not working anyway (we have to take 50% of our leave before H2 otherwise it gets taken away from us to stop mass holidays in Nov/Dec) but I’ve done some work everyday as there are now only 60 of us - and half of them come from areas that haven’t been affected (or workload has increased) such as gaming or the Netflix team. I can't recall it making the papers, but at the time on here, it was amusing to say the least.
