Union officials Serious point or not, any proposal that involves teachers doing more days will be hard to get passed by the unions. NUT will point to the fact that some teachers are still in schools now.

DazBob
Missus was telling me last night the Dad of one of yoof's classmates, Polish bloke, was sent home from his warehouse job with Covid-19 symptoms and told to stay away fro 2 weeks, during which time he'd get SSP. A few days later they furloughed him and are now paying him 80% of SSP. He's queried this and was told to stop being a trouble-maker. Sounds to me like his boss is ripping off the poor cunt. Mounts Kipper
Was asked if I’d consider furlough but I declined even though he’d top my wage up, my customers won’t stop messaging or ringing me and where would I stand legally if I continued speaking and emailing customers and suppliers, owner said shouldn’t be a problem, I declined as I don’t feel that’s what the schemes meant for, asked him to continue to pay me to which he agreed.... for now. He definitely needs to pursue that. Perhaps he could use those 'selfish twats' in the union if he has one.

Moderators Casino Posted April 9, 2020 Moderators Share Posted April 9, 2020 Some of our lot are on NMW The increase hasn't been applied As it's based on earnings in February So, he shouldn't be getting 80 of SSP Its either 80 of full pay or SSP Dunno what he can do about it though, rock and hard place
ErnestTurnip
Suppose he could grass his employer up, make them lose all the 80% they are claiming for all their wages and get a job somewhere else while his current employer ends up shutting down and has to lay everyone off. But that might be a bit drastic.

Sly cunt. The Pole is clearly being bullied to keep quiet and is worried he'll simply be fired if he continues to be a "trouble maker" by questioning it. Missus has already messaged him telling him he's either entitled to full SSP or 80% of his normal wage. Whether he questions his boss again is up to him, but my guess is he'll do nothing due to the fear of losing his job. Wouldn't surprise me if this is happening around the country in low paid jobs where unscrupulous bosses are taking the piss out of those who don't understand their rights, aren't bright enough or are too scared to question it. Moderators Casino Posted April 9, 2020 Moderators Share Posted April 9, 2020 Which is one reason you had to be employed by Feb 28 to qualify Could you imagine the abuse we would've seen with firms recruiting folk to get the 80% for each of them

Our company told us today that nobody will be allowed to carry any holidays over at the end of the year - so they're now asking staff to take holidays if possible - as they don't want everybody off at the same time at the back end of the year

One of my mates works for a company that had interviewed and offered jobs to 3 new starters, they'd served their notice period at their old/existing firms and should have a started their new jobs at the start of April - sadly, they've had their work offers withdrawn for the time being........poor fuckers now have nothing
Mounts Kipper
Another thing about this furlough, we’ve had a good month March and plenty of profit why should government pay March salary when we are trading at a profit? April’s been steady as well, we might even break even, again if a company make a profit or break even why should government pay?
Moderators Casino Posted April 9, 2020 Moderators Share Posted April 9, 2020 Cos it's going to cost a whole lot more if they have to check eligibility, I'd guess And if I couldn't show your company had lost money last month, I'd be a pretty shit accountant
Escobarp
Apart from the critics fact this has nothing to do with a company being profitable or not of course we made several billion profit in the last financial year but are still using the scheme. Some had also started in the first week of March so they got paid up to the end of the month and then let go. Poor fuckers.
