We had a Christmas get together before Christmas, loads of left over booze in the garage. Fosters carlsberg carling shite what people have left, but in amongst it 4 bottles of Duval.

8.5%, reckon I could speak Swahili if I drank all of them

I had a bag full of shit beers and fosters just left the outside in the garden from Christmas. Left em in the back street the other week and theyd gone overnight!

I've booked tomorrow off work. Beers, bbq and chippy tits out in the sunshine is the plan.

Hangover at work on Friday will be OK because we don't do video calls!

Craft? Never got it really. Tins of fizzy beer?

Ah, you need to be open minded.

I thought that once but it’s a whole new world of adventure out there.

Be brave, it’s not all Flat Cap.

Bit of a shout out for the much maligned Special Brew, it comes with a lot of baggage but the stuff we get over here is no stronger than a lot of stuff we've been mentioning and if you serve it ice cold in a glass it's a decent drink on a warm day.

One of the only things I drink from a glass and not out of the can/bottle come to think of it.

I noticed Speccy for the 1st time in ages in the One Stop Shop on Minerva Road last night...They (Carlsberg) have 'crafted' up the can livery, it's 'only' 7.odd% now I notice and the cans looked small, not even 440ml? And the price £2.32 a can or £7.99 a pack.

No wonder tramps have long moved on to the Polish Karpackie - a reassuring 9% in a 500ml tin and usually around £1.60.

My favourite tramp juice as a kid was Bavaria 8.6 as it wasn't much dearer than Stella etc. The best of both worlds, straddling hobo strength and premium could be found in Ceres Royal (Morrisons only) or the sublime Carlsberg Elephant Beer - my go to tipple in Hawthorns.

Skol Super was the strongest back then, 10% iirc...Best taste was Tennants or Kestrel Super was alreet too - until I discovered Duvel.

I agree Super strengths were wrongly maligned - had to use them wisely though. Four of the lower end (Bavaria 8.6 or Elephant Beer) in strength was always my limit.

First time I got served in a shop I bought four tins of Gold Label as I thought it was a drink only 'grown-ups' might buy.

I had some bad news about a lad I know the other day (cancer not Covid) which lead to too much ale and me nearly joining in the political threads on here, got my shit back together yesterday and even though I've loads in stock I'm doing weekends only as well from here on in, birthdays being a possible exception.
