I was on an FA cousre, In Preston, with Emmerson Boyce a few months ago - he was captain of Wigan when Coyle took over from Martinez - I asked him what it was like -  he said they went from spending a few hours every day on tactics, formation, movement and strategy to literally zero with Coyle, said he was a lovely chap but had no clue, it was up to the players to organise the match strategy.  He also said Malky Mackay was a twat.

Clark Carlisle said training consisted of 5 a side and head tennis and the losers had to buy Krispy Kremes and Irn-bru under Coyle

No fitness, no tactics.

I think it was the season we went down, we won at villa

We played 4 1 5

I couldnt belive what i was watching

Anyway, he is king cnut and i dont buy it we were always fantastic under him, but there was that spell of about a month when everything clicked

Cant take that from him, the white trainer, long socked cnut

And, if he was still manager kevin davies would still be playing up front looking totally ineffective

Boyce said the same - 5 a side matches, pick your own teams, like at school. Said they had a laugh and it was fun, and everyone got on well, but he was like a mate, not a manager, wanted everyone to like him. Crazy how  he's had so many jobs.

I remember a 5live phone in and it was a Blackburn fan going absolutely spare at Coyle being beat about 5-0 at home. Going ballistic.

He says look what he did to, Burnley, Bolton, Wigan and how us he’s done more damage to the North West than Maggie Thatcher

😂

Joe whites going, which is a bit of a shame

And 3 others who we didn't see much of

Eddie Brown, unclear as yet

Eddie Brown was so far out his depth I felt sorry for him. Joe White going is a surprise. The Sterling kid I thought had something about him against Ipswich.
what do we know though, I suspect we will be carrying a far smaller squad next season - all of whom need to be capable of 1st team. These 4 obviously don’t fit the bill

I thought White did OK to be fair.

Looked quality on the ball, really composed and accurate with his passing.  Obviously lacks a bit of pace but that didnt stop Andy Taylor getting to play Championship football.  Surprised he's been released given how cheap it would probably be to keep him another year.

We're still limited to a certain number of professional contracts, aren't we?

It could be something to do with that.

Nigel Clough has left Burton.

Just saying.

I’m largely happy to give Hill a go in League Two given his track record in that division. However, no longer having to pay compensation for Clough would be a game changer for me.

Agreed, good with young players and with no academy these players will need a manager to give them confidence, not sure Chino would do that, some will point to his record at Rochdale, but from what I've seen so far, he's far more likely to have a pop at them in public.

My fear with keeping chino is losing more time

imagine season gets up and running say September but you can’t have spectators in, we start off shite he gets off the hook and buys himself more time

before you know it we are starting another season in league 2. Yes you could argue his level etc and we could hit the ground running

seen enough not convinced

Was on the fence with Hill/Flitcroft .,,Emmanuals revelation that they have basically been left to train without advice or personal programmes shocked me.

Not bothered about White or even Darcy moving on,  they will both have had better offers than what we can afford. We no longer have a reserve team so each place in the squad is more critical than it has ever been. Think we have about nine out of 23 places allocated  for next season .Would love to add Mathews, Zouma, Lowe and Crawford to that list . Over 1000 players out of contract next month. The will be better players on that list than we currently have.

Folk still realise we will have an even tighter wage cap next season I’m guessing? I know our players this year are shit but we are going to have a real job selling what I’ve heard is 1.5k per week wage cap to players. That’s less than the top national league sides and way less than some of the teams we will be up against next season.

assuming we are relegated of course

Think a lot of players are going to lower there expectations if they want to stay in the game. 1.5k will get you a better standard of player than this time last season.

Not disputing that.  But 1.5k last season got you a fucking cart horse. So an improvement on that is still likely to be utter shite unless we can work some magic with tiered contracts or summat clever.

Would get Gary Oneill for 1.5k plus any number of decent out of work players...Maybe a promotion bonus or creative accounting can make us more appealing.

If you offered 1.5k to a out of contract player and he can get another club fair enough, but I think the will be plenty who will take any offer forthcoming.

His time is up for me.

If they decide we're finishing the season off, I'd rather he wasn't even here for that.

His time has to be up. if he stays it will be easy not to bother. Listening to his shit post match interviews and watching his shit football isn't how folk will be wanting to spend money
