Most of the dead were visitors to the waterworks from a local village,  concerned about flooding from the Lancashire waterworks.

Used to live on a farm not too far away from there when at uni.

Sometimes thought about wandering down for a gander, but thought it might be a bit ghoulish.

Just read about this.

see the visitors were from st Michaels not far from me. There as they’d had flooding. 

St Michael’s is still a flooding hotspot to this day. Took a proper beating 2 years ago.
