Evatt will be working for Phoenix

Evatt will not be deciding if Lee and Phillips stay

Doesn't mean to say Phillips and Lee won't be working for him though does it.

Or at least he must have some say in who undertakes the roles he requires.

He may be happy with this moneyball bollocks in that he sets out his requirements for players and someone finds them, but if he was to have no control over who trains them, then he wouldn't in all likelihood have come.

The arrival of his entourage does tend to suggest he has a controlling hand in it, even if TB wields the axe.

Picked out the words “expansive and free scoring” in that very good interview.
Now that would be really great; long time since we’ve enjoyed  that sort of football 👍🏻

Is that what you’re going for pal with MB U16s 😂.

Breath of fresh air this man. Great appointment. Very excited for the season ahead

Up till after the Liverpool game it was a very positive period

Might be remembering wrongly but didnt we bust our arses in the 2 games against them then showed up at Rotherham completely out on our feet and got beat 4?

That period where we beat Brentford at home on Tuesday then Wigan on the Friday same week I was really thinking we're onto something here.

But, anyway. Its dirty water under a shitty bridge now. New era now, got to be looking up from here.

I dont remember him blasting them but was preoccupied for days after with being pissed off at how many local liverpool "fans" were sat around me that night.

If Eidur had put that chance away at Anfield anyway...

Like what I see so far, I would work for him

Seems a bit more no nonsense than I expected, his “lets not beat about the bush, we need promotion” was exactly what I want to here

I suppose time will tell

Quietly confident that we now have the right man at the helm.

Looks to have a bit of the 'eye of the tiger'. Time will tell but feeling optimistic about this appointment. Weave your name into the fabric of Bolton Wanderers Mr. Evatt.

Had a full blown row with my Mrs as I wanted to put a grand on us finishing top 6. We were on silly odds but flying and just beat Ipswich 3-1 at home.

She won and the season petered out in the end. Thank fuck :)

His ambition and self belief in striving to improve comes across in droves. He hasn’t been content in the last 3 months to wallow in how good he’s made Barrow, he’s got himself fit and ready for his next challenge, he’s talked about reading 3 books that have inspired him to be a better coach.

The athletic podcast is a really good listen.   His positivity and confidence in the brand of football he wants to play is unwavering. He sounds like the type of guy who balances the personal touch with discipline to achieve results. It looks like we’re in for one hell of a ride. Can’t wait!

Think he will get his feet under the table and TP will be gone. Evatt scouts a certain type of player. Finds out about his character.

Very ambitious only room for one top dog.

Think your missing the point here.

Evatt "wants" a certain type of player, he tells TP, who does the spade work, whilst Evatt coaches and  does his job

For some reason I was most buzzing when we got Lennon

Probably the most high profile manager we have ever brought in (last 40 years).  Seasoned international and Prem footballer, high profile player then and manager with Celtic.  Probably the most "famous" appointment we've made since Jimmy Armfield, apart from Phil Neal but he hadn't been a manager so it was unknown.  Lennon looked like a the appointment of a big club going places, no wonder we were excited at the time, and listening to the way he spoke with calm authority seemed to confirm that.

Ask her if you can put a grand on us finishing in the automatics next season 🤣

we were skint.  we knew it. gartside knew it. lennon didnt . it looked as it was- another Gartside gamble on a manager no other championship or above club in England wanted because of his reputation and feeling (rightly or wrongly) that he was ok for Scotland but not good enough at top English level.

I remember being under whelmed

Eddie Davies appointed Lennon without Gartside knowing...JSL.

Lennon told the story that he met with Gartside? He was about to sign for a uae club and was almost on his way to airport to go over and if memory serves me correctly gartside jumped in and was the instigator

Lennon had an interview, Gartside included.

Then Gartside later spoke to ED to discuss all options but Eddie said that he'd already called Lennon & appointed him.

Ah ok fair enough. FWIW I think Lennon is a good manager. Dealt a very bad hand.

Pretty sure Lennon said something like Gartside charmed him into the role and had him hook line and sinker didn’t he?

I was excited about his appointment and for the first few months thought we were going places.
Plus I had money on him at 28’s. Just had a funny feeling when struggling to sleep at 2am.
