Roger_Dubuis 72
Wilder might keep them up yet but he doesn't look like being another Big Sam.This time in our second season in the PL Sam had brought in Djorkaeff, Okocha and Campo on free transfers while Wilder has paid £17.5 million for Oliver McBurnie.I prefer Sam's transfer activity

Can’t be arsed doing the maths but it’s probably the equivalent of about £2m when Allardyce was managing us.

McBurnie is a slow 2nd tier striker.Shrewd managers shouldn't be paying so much for one of that standard even in 2020.As Sam did Wilder should have been looking abroad for better quality at cheaper prices. That’s the point, he hasn’t paid “so much”. In relative terms he’s probably paid two thirds of a Dean Holdsworth.

Horwich 206
The signing of Brewster reminds me of N’Gog. Played about 20 games of football in the championship and is bought for over £20m 🤯

If you'd offered their fans the option of being one place off the CL at Xmas 4 years later and then in need of a bit of re-building a year after that, but with hefty parachute money to look forward to if they don't fettle it pronto, then I think they'd have taken it! Roger_Dubuis 72
SHeffield have been abysmal this season though, worse than Bolton even under Sammy Lee. Imagine if Owen Coyle had spent £17.5 million on a Scottish striker and started the season with 2 points from the first 14 league games. What would his big hater Boltonvava be saying about that. He can piss all over the carpet about mental health problens, but it was attitude &, I must assume, ability that held him back. He's still only 29 !!

Are you seriously trying to liken Wilder to owenbastardcoyle ??? Wilder has taken Sheff Utd from the third division to the premier league & kept them up for one successful season......even if they go down this season, they'll still be higher than when he arrived & in a strong position to bounce straight back, as well as being in a miles stronger financial position than when he arrived. On the other hand, that cunt Coyle destroyed an established premier league club & playing squad that he inherited, & from there, carries the greatest responsibility for our fall from premier league to division 4.
