Pie Eaters go into Administration

I think to avoid relegation from the championship this season you just have to avoid a points deduction and finish above Wycombe and maybe Rotherham. Blackburn & PNE are safe, if they don’t go into admin.

You are probably correct, unless the EFL put some type of amnesty on clubs in financial  difficulties due to this pandemic.

I’m amazed that anyone who has been to these games still doesn’t give a fuck about them.

I tried my best to ignore them for years. And they tried so fucking hard to create a rivalry. They got one from me eventually. I fucking hate them more than any other club.

I think geography comes into it with our fanbase. We have a big catchment area; being from the Chorley side I’ve never felt animosity towards Bury and I’ve never met a Bury fan.

Throughout high school there was a big Bolton/Blackburn divide. I’ve never cared as much for them since I left in 2005.

I cried my bastard eyes out the day after we got relegated at Chelsea. I was nine years old, in the first year of being a season ticket holder, surrounded by United fans in primary school. They were laughing about my team getting relegated, and I’ll bet they’ve still to this day never seen them live.

Throughout all this, I couldn’t give a fuck about United now. Perhaps it’s different if you live somewhere like Walkden, but in the grand scheme they care about us as much as we care for Chorley.
I’d fucking love it if we had a red away kit. It’s part of our history, we’ve always had a red trim, we have a red rose on our badge, we’ve traditionally had a red away kit and I think it would look smart.

I still only know one Wigan fan. A mate of my dad’s who’s harmless enough (although gave us the odd dig through our financial troubles).

I fucking hate them. Throughout all the miserable away days at their place. All the gloating on Twitter. Putting a Wigan scarf on Lofty’s statue etc. I cannot resist milking this situation for all it’s worth.

Early days yet, but if clubs start going pop or getting into financial difficulty becauseof this pandemic, they will be expected to do something to protect them.

Looking at it, our Administration may have come at a good time... may 😏

Admin is -12

No ifs, no buts

If fans are back in Stadia on a full-time basis, yes i would agree. Unfortunately i think clubs will use the pandemic as an excuse, for some it maybe true, but for others it will be about years of overspending above their means.

Losing Bury was a loss to us, let's not see Wigan go. I loved those little tin pot Derby games.

You been drinking and getting all balanced 😁

31 mins 17 seconds in... Is it me or did that sound like the least confident statement of confidence that you could imagine?

I've only listened a minute either side of 31mins 17 secs. You're right he's far from convincing, he could have said absolutely I'm very confident new owners will buy into this club etc etc.

I really fear for Wigan, I’m trying to understand why anybody would want to buy a loss making enterprise with a small fan base, threadbare team and a further reduced capacity from the virus. The takeover also has to be completed in the next four or five weeks because after the outcry over us, there is no way the EFL will allow them to start the season unless ownership and finances are confirmed. It could be Bury Mk2?

I listened to a quite a bit, the interviewer favours Nero fiddling while Wigan burns, penny ain’t dropped that it’s unlikely a buyer will be found to save them or at least one that’ll stop them hurtling back where they belong.

Depends if Admin will agree to fund the season, happened before, though will depend on player sales and I guess people being allowed to attend games.

Two issues here

1. EFL are not going to allow them to play all season in admin   If a concrete deal is on table the they may let them start but I’m not sure after the uproar about ourselves

2. begbies ain’t funding the club for a season. Not a hope in hell. It just isn’t going to happen

if they don’t have a buyer lined up in next 14 days then talk will turn quickly to liquidation.

You have a point on the protection if those clubs have done everything they can in the close season. But if a club has gone out and signed players this summer knowing about the pandemic then they have no case IMO.

Agreed, its going to be interesting to see how many championships clubs make big signings. Someone stated further up that if you avoid administration, you are likely to stay up.

Now Leeds have gone there isn't much glamour in that league. Sheff Weds, Forest, Derby, Birmingham, Norwich, Stoke, M'Boro are probably the biggest clubs

Sheff Wednesday bigger club than Leeds. Don’t really get the glamour in leeds, stadiums shit, the team also been shit for most of last 40 years in fact only the revie era was decent sustained period in their whole history.

Depending on what we base our findings as "Big Club", if you go off the history the biggest clubs in the championship are the likes of Preston and Blackburn.

Agreed, Leeds aren't a glamour club, decent size club, but it brings back the one club city debate, they have a massive catchment area as well, and they are one of the most expensive clubs to support in the country, they will also have the worst stadium in the EPL next season.
