However a buyer would be left with no squad and little time to assemble one, so relegation to League2 is a distinct possibility. Also as I said yesterday and Casino had previously mentioned, there is this £24.5m that may be owed to the current owner. Hence due diligence needs to happen. I just can’t see anyone buying Wigan until that’s clarified. We had our own problems that way with buyers not exactly sure what was owed and what wasn’t and I’m sure there were genuine buyers who were put off by the not knowing so I don’t see anything different in Wigan’s case. The clock is ticking though because if they don’t sort something concrete in the next few weeks, Wigan probably won’t be allowed to compete in the league and we’ll have another Bury. Also, if a buyer for all 5 parts of the business doesn’t transpire, the administrator will have to sell the various parts separately. It’s clear that Wigan Rugby would like to acquire the ground and I believe the planning situation for the training grounds is being investigated.
