I hope the Sun is wrong but if a mid table Championship squad is available for £5.1 million it isn't hard to see why someone might be tempted. There is a lot of cash around at the moment, cash that would normally be in the stock market and won't be going into the stock market until a vaccine has been successful. Not good news from Nixon this

Good way to turn 5.1 million into nothing, hole, bucket , Leak, springs to mind.

If the whole squad is sold, then they have money to pay the staff and U21's. However a buyer would be left with no squad and little time to assemble one, so relegation to League2 is a distinct possibility.

Also as I said yesterday and Casino had previously mentioned, there is this £24.5m that may be owed to the current owner. Hence due diligence needs to happen.

Krasner has stated that he 'hopes' the £24m does not have to be paid.

Surely that trumps any need for Due Diligence.

Maybe the owner if he is owned that money is prepared to negotiate so maybe that is what Krasner was saying, otherwise hopes doesn't cut it. Nixon now sounding like Barnier and saying the clock is ticking.

“Hopes” it won’t have to be paid? Would you buy a L1 club with few players left and other bills to pay on hope?

Krasner said that “on the face of it,” the club owes £24m-£25m “up the line” of company ownership, but that the administrators are still looking into who precisely it is owed to. Explaining the exclusion of that loan from the £6m total he said was owed to unsecured creditors, Krasner said: “We are working on a plan not to have to pay it.”

Exactly Ziggy and I’m not being funny but if even the Administrator can’t be certain that the loan has or has not to be paid, who in their right mind would take the risk? I just can’t see anyone buying Wigan until that’s clarified. We had our own problems that way with buyers not exactly sure what was owed and what wasn’t and I’m sure there were genuine buyers who were put off by the not knowing so I don’t see anything different in Wigan’s case. The clock is ticking though because if they don’t sort something concrete in the next few weeks, Wigan probably won’t be allowed to compete in the league and we’ll have another Bury. Also, if a buyer for all 5 parts of the business doesn’t transpire, the administrator will have to sell the various parts separately. It’s clear that Wigan Rugby would like to acquire the ground and I believe the planning situation for the training grounds is being investigated. Altogether it doesn’t look good but for their fans sake I hope someone comes along and makes it work.

Delaying the inevitable though. Still got transfer payments to other clubs coming out their ears

Agreed. I can't remember if the administrators take out a monthly fee or wait until the end. If it's monthly £2m isn't going far.

It's a downward spiral, sell to exist until...
