Mantra
Marc Iles and Nixon were never convinced that Bassini and Ken were working together but what do they know? Au Yeung also seems a bit of a stooge from Choi. Not sure if anyone's been keeping up with the Charlton saga too but they've got some multi-millionare called Thomas Sandgaard interested in buying the club. He's openly courting them (a bit like Bassini with us) saying that they should be a Premier League club and going to Europe, promising the world. Not saying Sandgaard a stooge but he seems to be doing more talking to fans than he is keeping counsel and working on a deal. Maybe I've lost my trust in football businesspeople but it's a bit "too good to be true". Also their "current" owner Paul Elliot was sold the club by Tahoon Nimer. Tahoon Nimer was working with Matt Southall when they bought Charlton. And Matt Southall was pictured with Bassini at the Reebok when we were being sold. Very dodgy indeed. I was thinking that maybe Sandgaard is a stooge to just keep Charlton fans "happy" while they continue to asset strip the club or whatever they're doing. I mean I thought the Bolton stuff was a nightmare but Charlton's is just as complicated if not more so. Anyway this isn't Wigan related, more general takeover and dodgy football ownership, but if you want to read more then https://forum.charltonlife.com/discussion/88474/latest-ownership-shenanigans-bite-size-thread-26-08-parts-1-2-now-up this thread explains in great detail everything that's happened since they were taken over by Nimer and Southall. Just think, that could have been us. Feel sorry for Charlton, not so much Wigan.

They were always in a higher division than us during that period so presumably they were paying higher wages. Went watching them v Southend one season at Upton Park in a tier 2 match, must have been 4,000 Southend fans on but Charlton won

Moderators Casino Posted August 30, 2020 Moderators Share Posted August 30, 2020 Im still not sure what the point is 500k is a drop in the ocean While it might buy influence, it doesnt provide anywhere near enough to buy the club

He said he has £2 million He's not asked crowdfunder to match it - just raise an amount - which they set at £500k and which they will exceed He will then try and get a deal sorted to buy on lines of a community club with supporters representation etc
birch-chorley
To be fair, they’ve done well to get to £450k in since a short period How much did our ST manage when they were raising funds? If the sale price is £4m then they have got 10% together in a few days, should get them a seat at the table you’d imagine They still need to sell players though to cover the losses, how many saleable players do they have left? DomRepWanderer
Alan Nixon @reluctantnicko · 1h Krasner said there were four left in. Two front runners. The French American group are in with a reduced bid after player sale(s). Smurthwaite is in. So is an English guy who may/may not ever show the money.
