Johnnyrotten
Its a joke that an owner can agree to a fee for a player, that doesnt have to be paid within at least a few months. So you just promise to pay a club in a couple of years, and promise to pay a player an inflated wage for 3 years, with the law of averages saying it will be someone else's problem by the time it actually needs to be paid. It needs to be stopped, if you havent got the money you shouldnt be buying these players, its no wonder the finances of so many clubs are in the state they are. Whitesince63
Not been able to find any news of the Administrators meeting with the EFL this evening but surely with no confirmed bids on the table and the season starting soon, surely they must be near to imposing a deadline for something to happen? With several of the remaining players indicating that they don’t want to play L1 football and most of their better players already sold, will they be in a position to field a competitive team anyway? They can’t sign anybody until a new owner is in place so surely they will be in as bad a position as we were? Not looking good is it? Burndens Bogs
Although it can be quite an enjoyable place to watch them bleat & squirm, that “Latics speyk” forum is priceless. They actually believe there is one rule for us (&Derby & Sheff Weds) and another rule for the likes of little old Wiggin/Bury/Macc. They seem to think we got special treatment from the EFL throughout our admin. One prat even sarcastically “congratulates” us for selling (as he wrongly puts it) “ 6k season tickets - down from 10k” Their hatred & bitterness towards all things BWFC is obvious and they’ve definitely got massive pies on their shoulders. Jelly & Ice cream - Fuck ‘em 😄 Edited September 3, 2020 by Burndens Bogs

If no Championship club is willing to take those players on then they will have to play league 1 surely, it’s not like the admins are playing hardball over releasing anyone if they offers are reasonable Based on them beating us as they did, with most of those players still in place (Garner etc), they are in a much stronger place than we were at this stage. They have a reasonable squad for the first match, we had under 23’s for at least half a dozen games. Starting on 0 points is also going in their favour Could deteriorate further of course

One post is basically ‘we are doomed’. The next is discussing which bidder they should support. Echoes of here last year. Then talk about 8000 fans can not be let down like this. Whitesince63
Well so far the Ganaye bidder hasn’t met the valuations the administrator has put on the assets so they’re either playing a brilliant game of chicken or they are only really interested at a fire sale price, neither of which is Comforting for Wigan. Given that Smurthwaite has pulled out this morning surely the EFL must step in and lay down a deadline for new ownership? Well that's exactly what the EFL did with us and Bury. Both clubs were allowed some extra time iirc. We had a buyer very close to completing, whereas Bury didn't actually have a buyer and were just playing for more time. The rest is history as they say. I've noticed a Wanderers fan calling himself Warren Bluffit has been posting on the Latics Speyk forum, throwing an arm around their shoulders and giving comforting words. Quite unusual imo, as most Whites i know hate Wigan with a pash. Is it you - White since i wur 3? Its valued at £3 million Council previously held a small stake in it (15 % from memory and they own the freehold) - If they want to keep their share that may be all it costs him Am sure the balance is small change to him in any respect The stadium valuation is presumably why no matter how many players are sold off the admin wont drop his price pro rata because he knows ultimately the Rugby Club / Council will buy the stadium Just noticed Admin spoken about EFL meeting Seems very upbeat https://www.wigantoday.net/sport/football/no-problems-foreseen-efl-meeting-wigan-athletic-administrator-2960338 Edited September 3, 2020 by Benny The Ball
