One day I’ll get to a game Get yourself up and I will come with you pal. I’ve been twice to montrose. it’s an easy jaunt from Edinburgh on the rattler. One of the best grounds I like going to is actually Aberdeen. Especially when they play rangers. Great day out. Dingwall I also like out of one of the “larger” clubs but it’s a trek. Raith is a good day out (kirkcaldy) , cowdenbeath as per Matt’s comments. also the junior “non league” scene is good for a day out. one Game that actually gets really tasty in the lower echelons is falkirk vs dunfermline. Been twice , once at each ground and it’s decent. About 50/60 youth goin hard at it last time I went.

Did Cowbenbeath in a monsoon and that was certainly no picnic. I only arrived half an hour in to the game because of problems with the trains and people were leaving the ground at that point to go back to the pub because they were piss wet through and couldn't see much of the pitch because of the stock car track! Easter Road and Tynecastle are both pretty special on derby day, and Hampden for a big game is like nowhere else in the UK. Ayr is a proper old school ground, as is Queen of the South (probably one of the biggest terraces left in the UK), with Dumfries being a good day out to boot. Motherwell is a weird one as the away end is fucking huge and towers over the rest of the ground, but the town itself makes Leigh look like Monte Carlo. Always fancied doing some of the smaller grounds - Arbroath, Brechin and Montrose in particular - but never really get round to it. Quite enjoyed Partick Thistle, if nothing else because it means going to a game in Glasgow with the usual baggage. I should have made more of when Hibs were in the Championship, but it was as we were reaching the end of the Eddie Davies days so duty called I suppose. Quite a few aspects are a bit of a throwback, even in the Prem though. No booze in the grounds so they're completely empty until pretty much 2.50pm, and I've yet to have a bad pie at any of the grounds. I went to QOS v Kilmarnock about 10 years ago, a cup match, they were in different divisions (it was the same night BW played at Fulham, Diouff scored). Stephen Dobbie played - absolute QOS legend now with a ridiculous number of goals. I loved standing on that terrace behind the goal, proper random chanting going on, not with any "attitude" or trying to taunt the away fans, just songs sung in a routine way, very different vibe to games in England from my experience. Souvenir shop is inside the ground, corner between terrace and stand, size of a large shed. Ayr United - went there in the 80s when on hols with parents, no game just walked into ground and took a couple of pics. What a fantastic ground, terraces on all 4 sides, and all covered. Saw one of their games on TV last year and I was pleased to see its not changed one bit - quality ground.

Walked into Dumbarton's ground in the 80s on the same family holiday as above and had my pic taken on the terraces. It was smaller than Ayr but still terraced on all 4 sides, with one seated stand and 3 covered sides. I've always imagined it would be very similar now but that pic says not - real shame. From 4 sides to 1 and not a terrace to be seen.
