Site Supporter MickyD Posted September 1, 2020 Site Supporter Share Posted September 1, 2020 The subway became redundant once the station entrance moved over the road. It seems anyone coming from down Thynne St could manage to cross roads. Iām fairly sure they shuttered the tunnel both ends and filled in the pavement entrance. The one near the church had both steps and a ramp. The tunnel then went all the way under the far pavement and came out on concrete stilts with the steps and ramps coming out behind a row of shops at the end of Newport St.

Site Supporter MickyD Posted September 2, 2020 Site Supporter Share Posted September 2, 2020 Weston St was never on a route from Great Moor St. Ā Trains went pretty much from Morrisonās over towards Lecturers Close, under Fletcher St and a tunnel below Bobby Heywoods Park

Exiled Girl
That skylink bridge was the one I was saying about that came out by St Pat's on Gt Moor St, you can see the signal box in the foreground. And Micky was correct about the subway coming out behind shops on Newport St, which is why all the females that I knew preferred to take their chances crossing the road at surface level rather than risk being raped & murdered in the subway.
