Actually looks like the outside of a grand old football stadium, quite impressive to be fair.

Re modern stations, do we actually need one to be so supreme  ?

Me and you know exactly how much of a dog shit butty station Wigan/Leigh North Western is, but it still does the job it was designed for, of transporting folk from A to B quite admirably.

Aye, i was there on Saturday, 4 packed trains on respective lines at the same time, one to London, one to Glasgow, one to Windermere and another to Liverpool.

I'm unsure if your asking a question or telling me I'm wrong and I'm wary of being dragged into one of your arguments 😁

No mate, I've honestly no idea what the archway is meant to represent, whether it's to welcome folk or say goodbye 😆

I was on the Glasgow train, took my son and his mate in " Harry's Bar " before we set off, not impressed. Anyway his mate had some tangerine Brewdog in his bag to make light of the journey.😃

Did you get to Glasgow pal or the usual haunt ?

I'm there again next weekend if you fancy a ride Mr Portillo 😉

Aquarius, saw some great artist there in my youth  Lynn Perrie, Chubby Brown and Stand Boardman, the latter was absolute shit, SCOUSE CUNT!

Mr Manning did a regular spot there. Sometimes he was shite ,, but others when he stuck to telling tales was great.

Seen the Salford Jets there.

Biggest turn i saw . Ginger Baker . ( absolute mad man , hell of a drummer).

Only downside was the Stones Bitter . 1 pint led to a 2 day headache.

Barry on the door was not one to suffer fools or muppets.

Oh my word. Disappeared down a rabbit hole on that site

From 82-85 it felt like I spent half my life at that station travelling to and from Sheffield Uni. Left Bolton in 86 and when I came back in 90 the station (as it was) had gone. It really is criminal when you look at what other towns have done to keep their stations intact and make them a feature

honestly you can just get deeper n deeper

dont know how many hours i lost tonight

Moor Lane , old markets , and town before any twat on a council was allowed to fuck it all up

Our station looked a mean looking fucker.

A picture of the old Leigh railway station, which was taken around 1960

this looks like a pleasant patch though

edit: just realised that's Leigh, but anyway:

Not too sure why so many blame Bolton Council for the mess at Trinity Street Station. British Railways have a Property Department which oversees everything on the railway infrastructure which isn’t a track. (This still includes swathes of countryside which used to have tracks on but Beeching’s cuts closed) As the custodians of billions of pounds worth of such infrastructure they would be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the grand Victorian stations. If they failed their role and a station is allowed to fall into a state beyond economical repair then inspectors from within the same department get to inspect and report back that it can’t be saved. The only time Bolton Council get involved is when planning is asked if they can knock down and relocate. Council probably said no, not unless you keep the façade, to which BR would point to it’s dangerous state. No way could they then insist on a reportedly dangerous public building be left standing.

Ive not mentioned the council, though the interchange is a shambles

Whoever is to blame, its a shitty station

We see plenty as football fans, be they modern or old and ours is definitely Division 4

That god awful waiting room says it all

You haven’t mentioned the council but a few have. I’m not defending the mess that Trinity Street became but it was nobodies fault but British Railways Property Board.

Yes so fat Bernard and Sweeneys Salford Jets a couple of times there.

I lived local, so was there a lot from 83 until it closed. My dad used to go fishing with Barry, if it's the same Barry we are both thinking of, used to drink down the bottom of Deane.

It will be . Big lad but didn't feel the need to throw his weight around. We respected him .

Yep supped in all the pubs below the Waggoner.

So Mr Grey our paths have crossed before.
