Wilder at Sheff Utd were bottom of L1 in his first 4 games, he stuck to his footballing principles and stormed the league in the end, they also had a shit load of new players as well.

If IE changed his philosophy after his first competitive game and one defeat in a cup game, what would we think of him then ?

Never will I go if that’s the future.

I will say it again... We had 11 players who are new to the club starting yesterday, it needs time & it's probably in our favour that games are behind closed doors given the impatience of some peo

Sign up for an account. It will then offer you a match pass (click on matches tab and you should see Bradford game) click on to match centre to purchase. Card details and all that shouldn’t be tricky.

It's a position he can certainly play comfortably, I'd say its where he's played most for us and arguably been most successful.

He was no use on the right, but was more effectively on cutting in from the left as a wide forward. I think he's a No. 10 more than anything though.

Totally agree IE as to stick with it and give him time this squad as been brought together to play to his principles of 3-5-2 . I hope he plays the same team against Crewe which will give us a further idea of improvement because last time they was way better than us.

Spot on all our recent managers seem to have started with their own strong principles and at the first sign of it not going to plan have resorted to ale house tactics, and inevitable failure.

Micky makes a decent point.

Not something we'll have to concern ourselves about for a while yet though. :(

Hopefully by the time we are allowed in (hence why these mass protest make my blood boil), all this kneeling shit will be over, let's get back to;

Entrance music as players take to the pitch (no fucking 'We will Rock You')

Teams and players names announced

Line up, shake hands

Ref, mascot, captains photographed

Kick off, loud roar

*NO POLITICS, NO KNEELING, NO MASK

So is Chris Wilder/Sheff Utd the new Reading this time last season?

FWIW i thought we looked decent yesterday in possession, given it was everyone's debut

The encouraging thing from yesterday I believe is there’s far more to come yet from this team and already looked half decent. Tonnes of work still to be done but that will have surprised nobody

Nobody knows till an hour before KO but I'd be surprised if Crewe play anything like their "first team" given they had a tough league cup game yesterday and will be focused on their first league game in a higher division 4 days later.  I've never taken the tinpot cup seriously and I'm not going to start now just because its a new manager, just another friendly as far as I'm concerned and counts for nothing, its all about avoiding injuries and then onto Forest Green.

Because we have no real wingers with Politic out, the ideal would have been the ability to bring Politic on for one of the CBs and switch to a more traditional Back 4 and do either 4-4-2 with Gordon/Crawford on the left or 4-3-3 with Politic and Delfouneso wide of Doyle.

Think we badly need a replacement for Politic's versatility, maybe a Championship or Prem loanee that can play as a winger/forward.

That's my concern, complete lack of width.  I know we have to move on from the past and I've no problem with that - but I cant remember the last time we started a season without one winger.  Seriously, if anyone can think of a season in last 40 odd years we didnt have a winger let us know.

Completely agree, he's got to be more central to get the best out of him.  Hill played him out of position and he didnt touch the ball for 20 minutes at a time, waiting for a pass.  Scares defences to death running at the centre backs, when out wide just another wide player, not special.  Difficult to see how he'd get starts under Evatt's system though, no room for him in a 3 man midfield if everyone available.

The 2 best managers in my lifetime, Rioch and Allardyce both started slowly.  GMR phone in after a 2-2 draw at Chester bemoaning Bruce.  1 down at Cambridge in the cup with Sam "You dont know what you're doing"

No way am I getting bent out of shape at a narrow loss in our first competitive fixture and in the Mickey mouse cup at that.

On the BLM taking a knee thing.  It was the players first chance to do it and I'm glad they did.  Surely any decent person would want to show their support for their stance and to our black players in particular?   If we'd been allowed in yesterday, you'd have come across as a real asshole turning your back on our players.

Anyone thinking of not going until the “taking a knee” stops is missing an opportunity.

If you feel so strongly about it; and if plenty enough others do too, everyone turning their backs on the pitch during the taking a knee will send a louder message that turning your back on the club.

That’s a good idea MickyD, I think most fans understand and sympathise with the situation and what happened to George Floyd and accepted the knee bend initially but it’s now gone way beyond that and has become a political statement instead and has no place on a football pitch. It should have ended with the season not carried on into this one. Unless fans indicate that we’ll be stuck with it.

If that's the case, players have a choice and so do the fans, doesn't make me an arsehole, I come to watch the football, I'm not at a political rally.

I may take my seat 1 minute after kick-off.

People are seriously considering 'turning their back' in protest? I bet none of you actually do it on match day. And if you do it'll mark you out as a massive bellend.

I wouldn't turn my back but I wouldn't think people who did so are bellends. Everybody is entitled to an opinion - that's what diversity actually means.

I do share the sentiment that the relentless woke virtue-signalling now needs to stop. If it seeks to convert people to a cause it's having the polar opposite effect.

We've done it once. Enough.

Ah so protest only works one way.

If the players kneel, and I'm in my seat, my back will be turned  if that makes me a bellend or an arsehole, so be it.

I just want to be back at the match with none of this shit, just at a fucking football game watching my team playing football again! We haven't been all spring, summer, now Autumn and in all that time we have been consumed by all this BLM political woke crap and Coronavirus, they can fuck off.

Why?

I've no intention of offering any support to a political organisation that's gone way beyond its initial protest roots.
