Johnnyrotten
That league table from our last time in Div 4 - exactly half of the 24 teams have spent time in non league, or are still non league or no longer exist in their original form. A scary thought. 5 of us have spent several, or many, seasons in the Prem.
Benny The Ball
Back in 1888 - the Leagues very first season Our first game against Derby at home we lost 6-3 We lost the next 2 at home to Burnley 4-3 and then at Preston 3-1 So 3 games in we were bottom of the entire Football League Admittedly only 12 teams in the League and no relegation But bottom we were

Duck Egg
Worth noting from that 87/88 table that all the promoted sides were in the bottom half after 3 games

Every team in England at that time could’ve applied to be one of those first 12 teams. They didn’t. Not that it matters at the moment.

Johnnyrotten
This is as good a thread for this as any...regarding the possibility of the National League season being cancelled (and I hope it isn't for football's sake), it would remove the possibility of relegation from Div 2. I'm not suggesting we are in danger of finishing in the bottom 2, but its going to change the landscape for a lot of teams if there's no danger of losing EFL status. And if the worst happens and IE's reign goes disastrously, he's just giving us a disappointing season and delaying our renaissance rather than risking our very future. If we lose our next couple, that thought will allow me to breathe a bit easier.
