Boarding out my loft

With the arrival of Rudy III our Maude has given me a list of things I need to do, one of them is creating storage somewhere in the house

Thinking of just boarding the loft space purely for storage.

Is it a simple enough job to do myself?

Done a gazillion of em in my former job.

Use tongue and groove floor board. They slot together and screw down to the joists.

Pack some extra insualtion under floor boards.

If your boarding out the apex get some kingspan and pack it between the timbers. Board over with plaster boards.

Get a plunge saw for the floor boards, youll be there all day by hand.

Battery drill to fix everything down.

Stanley knife and tape measure for the plasterboards.

Jobs a goodn

Insulation is less than 12 months old, saw a video on YouTube that said you shouldn’t pack your insulation down?

Correct. Forces the air out reducing its effectiveness.

Gonzo saying use tongue and groove boards. From personal experience creates a great surface in your loft but a complete pain if you want to get back under to wiring for lighting in rooms below.

Certainly screw them, not nail.
