Site Supporter MickyD Posted October 22, 2020 Site Supporter Share Posted October 22, 2020 Jussi saves two penalties at t’rovers and Campo gives us a 1-0 win with 10 men following Kev Nolan’s red.
Johnnyrotten
That was the game we took 7000 isnt it, the first of the "£15" games against them. Walking away from the ground with the throngs of fans packing the road, I remember it felt unreal, right up near the top of the league, on a roll. We didnt even play well, it felt lucky in truth that day, but things seemed to come easy to us then. We seemed to have a habit of getting "jammy" away wins in that era (eg the famous 1-0 at City - Speed pen) - in recent years backs to the wall away wins seem impossible to come by. Moderators Zico Posted October 22, 2020 Moderators Share Posted October 22, 2020 Remember it well Was stuck on a plane for hours waiting to get out of Krakow Along with a load of Rovers fans who'd been there for a europa league game
paulhanley
This was in the middle of an odd few years between us and them when neither side seemed able to record an home win over the other. It's one of the local derby grounds that has been a happy hunting ground for us over the years. Probably our biggest following there other than the famous 78 visit. Third on that list would probably be the 3-1 defeat in 95/6 with Bolton fans over the home end. Celebrations everywhere when Scott Green scored ours. Anyway ... Ivan Campo, Ivan Campo! jeep
Sure it was on a Sunday. Blackburn did cheap tickets at £15. We filled the Darwin end (7k?). Cracking day out, the GL Ultras took liberties in Darwin pre-game......

Mike Dean loved giving penalties against us. I think it was him who reffed at the Reebok when he gave Blackburn a last minute penalty to equalise. No surprise seeing him as a Tranny fan. Once a wanker....

Blimey, yes - I'd forgotten it was "that" match. Daft thing is I couldn't remember for sure if I'd driven up to it, but now I know I definitely did as I remember hearing about the crash later. paulhanley
The one that really upset the dingles was a bit before this and hasn't been mentioned yet. The 0-1 when Dioufy tripped over his own feet to secure the winning pen. Presumably Dean wasn't the ref that neet!

Steve Bennett - got his revenge next time he reffed us, sent Diouf off after 5 mins or similar against Arsenal in the qtr final of F.A cup
