Mounts Kipper
Heads got to roll on this, looks like cronyism from the Tories, 21 million for a Spanish go between, contracts given to friends who have no experience in the sector leading to unusable products. I know folk with experience in this sector who offered their services and were ignored. This type of behaviour is totally unacceptable. boogs
Spot on Mounts. If these bastards think it’s OK to be doing this sort of thing during a pandemic when all eyes are on them, what do they sneak through when they think nobody is looking. As had already been said, it’s nothing less than corruption at the top.

MancWanderer
If the govt do nothing about it, or are seen to do nothing about it, does anyone have the legal power to go after them or whoever actually awarded the contracts? Surely Starmer will be all over this?
gonzo
Starmer will be, but his lot would do exaclty the same for their cronies/same people if in power. Surely Starmer will be all over this? Some time ago the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, John Prescott decided that what the Uk fire service needed were a way of dropping important equipment off at large-scale incidents which could be used to deal with that incident. High Volume Pumps (7000 lpm) mass-decontamination showers, robes in which to dress those who have been decontaminated, foam making equipment, specialist rescue equipment (building collapse, etc.) all strategically placed across the country and capable of being delivered to anywhere within a certain time. The idea was that a large station such as Bolton could house three or four of the demountable pods and, as each incident type would require just one of the ‘pods’ then a single moving system could be attached to one, drop off at incident then return to station to make the rest available. Someone didn’t quite understand the principal and ordered a tractor unit for every single pod... at about £100k each! So we ended up with about 50 too many. £5million overspend. Nothing was said. If it wasn't for the pandemic Handcock would be out of the door marked do one quick enough.

I don’t get why (well I do) but why the government didn’t say to Google, right you know where everyone is on a smart phone anyways, sort out the track and trace and we’ll ignore your tax evasion for another couple of years? Savvy?
