I've had a white car, a green one, one that was black, silver and a nice red one as well.

Lights, wheels and loads of other stuff on them all. Highly recommend if you need to go somewhere that you currently are not.

I saw a play once

Stage full of desperate, sweaty actors forgetting their lines and full of rage because they’d failed several auditions for bit parts in Casualty.

The play itself was some achingly contemporary twist on a Sheridan “comedy” - an eye rolling pastiche full of cliches and poorly crafted and witless observations of the human condition.

You'd have loved it, I thought it was no better than watching 3 episodes of Crossroads back-to-back.

Each to their own.

Doubt it, I try to avoid watching much theatre if I can help it.

Best car - current Merc GLC - ticks every box that I need ticking

Favourite car - Orion 1.6i Ghia - respectable XR3i. Although my first ever car was a B Reg (1985?) Astra 1.6L company car. I loved that car as it was my first and it cost me nowt other than a low amount of tax

Worst car - BMW Alpina D3 Biturbo - undriveable in the wet as mentioned on another thread

Funniest car - my brother’s Lada Riva. Went to Anfield in it one night to watch Wigan vs Brisbane Broncos. It was like Del Boy’s Robin Reliant with smoke belching out the exhaust. Fucking thing nailed 80mph backed down the M62 though

I got Mrs Jules a GLC this year; she loves it, can’t fault it at all

I’m going full leccy soon. No brainer to run through the biz.

My Vauxhall Nova 1.2L with a fucked petrol gauge will take some beating though

Favourite car was a bright red Ford Escort RS Turbo, wish I'd kept it now, they're going for silly money. Best car I've had was a BMW 325i (E46 model) had the car for 7 years, absolutely faultless car, had tears in my eyes when I part exchanged it, only got 1K for it too.

Massive edit:

Forget the Orion. That Astra had a fucked HT lead but got me and my mate to Wrexham and back on 3 cylinders at 40 mph for THAT game so has to be my favourite car. It also got booted and dented by Barnsley fans when we lost that FA Cup game at Oakwell mid to late 80’s

I part exchanged my 325i for a BMW 545i what a mistake! The 545 wasn't a patch on the 325 and was glad to get rid after about 12 months or so.

My mam has just got a new Mercedes ECQ, so I was looking at the spec 40 mins to charge then stumbled across this article

Car batteries fully charged in 5 minutes

The technology for Electric cars is going to be incredible in a few years

Really good that.

Think Escobarp once mentioned that fast charging can limit battery life, but this sounds promising.

Had the use of a little bmw i3 recently and it was tremendous. Nippy, comfortable, quiet and easy to drive.

Price still an issue though, especially for a little car.

Yeah I agree but the technology is certainly there. I’ve heard about swappable batteries on electric cars as well

You plug your car in charges on in the engine one in the boot, the engine one runs out pull over put in the boot one. Could probably get 500 miles

Problem is the tech. That’s in hand it will come. . It’s the charging infrastructure that is missing. That’s where the key developments need to be running alongside the tech and moving at least as quick

Going to need an overhaul of leccy supplies too. If these rapid charging points require more power, then a number of them at a charging station is going to use some juice.

Used to the father in laws job- designing supply systems for developments- no doubt he'll be educating me about it all!

Why wouldn't you wire second battery up in parallel if you're luggingit about in boot?

Heard possibilities of swapping batteries at service station rather than wait to charge. That has some mileage

Absolutely, wondered that all the way along.

Standardised units you could swap over for ready charged ones. Pay your fee and do one.
