Sport Vale at Home

A bit wierd that 6 of the last 7 home games have been against teams in the middle of various crises whereby the general pre-match tone has been "we have to beat this lot": Grimsby, Oldham, Bradford, Mansfield, Southend, Vale.

We can't complain about the run of fixtures, let's make the most of it coz there are going to be tougher games to come.

They are in a really bad run.

Aren't they just.

Lost their last 5 in tbe league, won in the pointless cup against L'pool U21's, lost at home to King's Lynn in the FACup.

Blimey.

Just to keep the theme going ... "we're going to fck this up, aren't we !"

I really, really would love Tutte to be replaced by Darcy and make even the DM role one which adds to our attacking intent.

I know he won't but that'd be quite a statement.

I know I'm gonna get pelters for this but I would prefer Comley in for Tutte!, Whites had his chance and looked limited.

Let's see if we can turn Comley around like we have some of the others, maybe playing in a team with confidence may make a difference??. He came with a decent reputation, there must be more to him than what we've seen so far??

I remember the season we won it on 98 points my uncles were buzzing about the port vale fixture, think it was the first game of the season.

I begged them to take me.
It was eye opening, kicking off outside the ground, before and after , think it finished 1-1 but the experience of it was class

Comley gives away far too many free kicks in dangerous positions and gets booked. He also gives the ball away more than White. For me although he is miles away from Tutte’s standard I would continue with White who didn’t do to bad yesterday. Don’t believe we have anyone else who could do the role

I don't necessarily disagree; I just think there must be more to him than we've seen yet, that's all.

I don’t think there has ever been a vale away smooth police operation ever

It’s a close call for between Comley and White. My main thought is I wonder what Thomason is about.

Booting off? Nothing new with our trips down there. I love going to Vale Park, always an edge. What a dump Burslem is. Went to a league cup tie there in the early 90’s, booted off in the post office pub

First time went was 1973 and it was Easter Monday after we got promoted the two days earlier - loads of Bolton as you would expect but these dummies had a go from the moment we arrived.

Fair few Bolton got slapped on way to the ground, was great BWFC turn out but fair play to Vale, they are game as they come. Great day out,  most games were like that back in the day.

One of my all time favourites that was vale lads trying to break the bolton escort up all the way to the ground

Must be something in the area vale/stoke not wired up right

I went a Vale- Stoke match in the 80s with a relative what supported PV, it made our visits look like a wedding gathering in comparison.

I went to Vale Park around 1972 to see the promotion team on their march. It was the match when a PV ballboy offered Byrom the ball, then threw it away ... leading to Byrom picking the little runt up by his throat.

They had a wire fence AND a net to stop people chucking stuff. They also had some building work going on. We could have built a wall from the house bricks which made it through.

We were escorted back to our, by now windowless, coach by cops who were less than friendly.
