I went to Vale Park around 1972 to see the promotion team on their march. It was the match when a PV ballboy offered Byrom the ball, then threw it away ... leading to Byrom picking the little runt up by his throat.

They had a wire fence AND a net to stop people chucking stuff. They also had some building work going on. We could have built a wall from the house bricks which made it through.

We were escorted back to our, by now windowless, coach by cops who were less than friendly.

Sounds great, happy days.😂

We were in there from 11am one year, police vans waited outside until 10 to 3 then as we piled out of the pub, they offered us a lift to the ground, as we’d had a skinful was very welcome. 😂

Miami knows loads of stories of adventures in that location. ☺️
