Never seem to have brought a mob up to Bolton though, a lot came in the FA cup tie, but cant remember any incidents.

They got agitated when we went 3 up after about 20 minutes, 3 or 4 years ago

Google has stoke to manc and stoke to brum at 44.5 miles

Aye, Sheffield is closer

Think Oxford were classed as Midlands for tv / footy coverage and thats 77 miles from brum

It's the potteries accent what gives it away between N Staffs and S Cheshire.

Nantwich/Crewe is North West.

Alsager & Audlem are Midlands.

There's only about 4 miles between them but the distinction is very clear.

Stokies  are a breed apart. Stoke & its five fckg towns are holes ... & not in a good way.

It will please all to know their wages must be the lowest I've ever witnessed ... including the Welsh Valleys & Middlesbrough.

I loved the place, had digs in Hanley and the town was buzzing on a Monday night, never seen as much talent in the bars and pubs, Newcastle up the road was the same on a Wednesday.

Love going to Vale, it's always mental.

Except on boxing day 96

Hadn't even got out the car fully when some bloke told us it was off

Basically went for a 120 mile drive

Think they changed the boundaries at some point as I remember Wrexham being covered on there as well.

Yes, Granadaland has often encroached. The population of North East Wales is about 40% English and they shop & work in Chester, Wirral, Manchester & Merseyside. They support Everton & Stretford ... & a bit of Liverpool with Wrexham sometimes their team but even then they have a "second team".

Come round there & look at the TV aerials & 90% point to Winter Hill.

Otherwise they're getting news stories from Merthyr & Neath & Cardiff which means f'call to them. It only joins together as a nation for the Rugby otherwise they hate each other.

But, when the Assembly was created there was a push to establish airwave boundaries & so BBC NWest & Granada were ordered to keep out and a lot more TV relay masts were built. So the old Clwyd area is no longer covered on NW tv.

Racism really.

I have never seen us lose a match against Port Vale, started going in 1989.

We must have a better record against Port Vale than any other team we have faced on a semi regular basis.

Played 36

Won 24

Drawn 10

Lost 2

And the 2 defeats came 50 days apart in 1988 (FA Cup and a league match).

was a big student night in Stoke (back in the 90’s at least anyway);

”The Place” was where it was liveliest on Mondays

’castle was seen as a slightly more upmarket night out but better Thursdays

Stokies are an odd but genuine, down to earth bunch in the main; that plus the 6 towns stuff always reminded me of Bolton (what with in-house rivalry of areas), as did the town centre

Best pie at the footy I’ve ever had was at Port Vale n all
