leigh white
I always lived close enough to a town were you could get to easily but would never live in a town centre.
Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted December 24, 2020 Site Supporter Share Posted December 24, 2020 In the sticks if I could. Though I can see the attraction of a pad in a city centre for a decent night life etc.
Dimron
Tonge Moor born and bred but have probably been out in deepest Lincolnshire too long,.. now live with a proper wood stove, terriers, ferrets, eat local animals and veg from my patch, so I'm a bit of both. Leyther_Matt
When buying our house, it was considered to be an absolute necessity to be within 20-25 minutes walking distance of the George & Dragon in Leigh. Never mind the country, I couldn’t even live another half a mile up Wigan Road.

Ha ha, I used to shudder playing a Darts and Dominoes game at Wigan Rd Labour Club in an away fixture.
Site Supporter Winchester White Posted December 24, 2020 Site Supporter Share Posted December 24, 2020 I like a bit of both so living in a village with good road and rail links to Bolton/Manc and Preston is great yet I can walk to Rivington or Anglezark with the pooch. I like the best of both worlds.
tomski
Townie but as I get older similar to @Winchester Whitein liking a bit of both.

Underpants
I feel a bit claustrophobic in towns. If I could I would live in the UK in the sticks on my own. But Australia, Canada, Norway, Finland or Texas would do me fine. I'm a solitary beast at heart.
MancWanderer
Chew Moor was almost perfect for me. Rural(ish) but close enough to everything Having now lived about 4 miles from the centre of Manc for 17 years I’d struggle to live too far from a city centre

Right on the edge of the bit where rural meets urban but with no industry. (Apart from the quarry and the resulting mountain alongside it) 10 minute drive into town (at selected times) or 10 minute walk to the countryside. I’ve lived here for 56 of my 58 years. Members Rudy
I couldn’t ever live in a town or city centre, it’s really not for me, I wanted to buy a house right at the top of Rivvy, about a 2 mile walk to the mast. Settled for lostock and I absolutely love it

Love how you can walk from Harwood to the Pack Horse at Affetside which is a proper country pub (or it was till they renovated it).
Not in Crawley
Personally, I've always seen Bolton as a bit of a suburb. Same as here. 15 minutes into central London but we have a massive town centre which means we do our shopping here. Plus, 15 minutes drive and we're in the middle of Kent countryside. I guess I likenit here as it reminds me.of home.

Continue on the old pack horse track into Hawkshaw, lots of pathways all over for a good circular route.

Burndens Bogs
Born+ Bred in Bolton, but now live Semi rural, edge of a village,i can see Winter hill from my window - 15 mins drive from Bolton town centre and 15 mins from the centre of Wiggin. Love it, loads of decent walks where i hardly see a soul + a smattering of decent pubs dotted around. Wouldn't move back to Bolton, but still have loads of friends and family there.
