Surely education should be the priority over   Pubs/shops etc

Absolutely. Hence why I think schools may well re-open, but at the need to not open up other areas so quickly.

Actually more reason for the anti vaccers to grow up and have it. Everything that helps get this thing down, will lead to quicker re opening.

We can but hope. A rather attractive lady from some uni or other this morning was urging just this. Her comments were along the lines of those disbelievers are the ones that are prolonging it. Urged them to stop.

Maybe raise their taxes for non compliance, as a means of contributing to the economic drop...

Anyway, after the last of the top 9 priority groups of which is the over 50s, who should be next

Also, im pretty sure hancock said 98% of all deaths are either in the 9 groups, or maybe even less than that...it couldve been age 70 plus and risk groups

If thats the case, there really isnt a justification for ongoing lockdown, once 98% of those likely to die are protected

A few times recently I've heard them mention that "younger" age groups are now being hospitalised, all anecdotal of course, I've not seen any actual figures - so they may decide to base any easing of restrictions not purely on deaths, but on hospitalisations, which could be used as a reason to keep restrictions in place a bit longer.

I'd not be surprised, as mentioned about to see School kids going back after half term, but pubs staying shut until closer to Easter, and even then the ridiculous "rule of six" and mask wearing still to be prevalent. As for football, we'd all love to go to a game, but I can't see that happening this season at all, unless they go back to the equally ridiculous maximum attendance of 2000, no matter what your capacity is

I guess it depends what you count as 'vaccinated' and what you mean by 'lockdown'.

I think it was said that 50% of hospitalisations are under 60. And the Oxford vaccine is 60% effective with two doses, so you would presume less so with one.

Which adds up to there still being a significant number of people who could put pressure on the NHS, for a while yet.

Full stadiums & music gigs as normal? I can't even picture it to be honest. Maybe late summer.

Earlier this week, the University of Oxford and AstraZeneca published their interim efficacy results, which indicated the vaccine was at least 70% effective in protecting individuals from COVID-19.

This rose to 90% effective when administered as half a dose, followed by a full dose – rather than 2 full doses.

Used the 119 phone number to book my mum in. I can’t believe how many “press one if...”

”press two if...”

then once you make your selection, “press one if...” and so it goes on about 5 different multi-choice questions.

after about 15 minutes listening to Stephen Hawkins’ younger sister, I was told the lines are extremely busy, try again later.

I then tried the www.nhs.uk/covid site my mum’s letter gave.

Again, loads of questions then eventually, an offer of a vaccination in Manchester, or Blackburn, or a pharmacy in Denton.

I then phoned her doctor’s surgery who, after waiting about three minutes, said they have an appointment available on Monday.

One thing though, does the average over 80 have internet access?

Talk of schools reopening by area after half term

It makes absolute sense to do that. This school year is already pretty much written off, so no point in rushing things and letting them all go back at once. This definitely should be done by postcode/area, and I suspect it will start from after half term
