My Dog is a Dick Head

Ours barks at any other dog that's bigger than him, he's a fucking wimp though and hides if they come for him. I walked him this morning, and he was scared of a bin that somebody had put out, we had to cross the road, whilst he viewed it with much suspicion.

Pigeons are his nemesis, they land in the garden, he runs after them barking his head off, and they just fly up onto the shed or one of the other buildings and stare at him, which proper sends him off his head.

I've got a 13 yr old Manny Terrier and his eyes are going, he barks at wheelie bins on the pavement when they are left out at night... needs to go to spec-savers!

Walks to heel really nicely all the time (maybe except if he sees a squirrel) and is happy for it

Ours loves chasing a ball, but then without warning, I'll launch it miles (using one of them chucking things) and he'll just sit their and I end up going to fetch it 🙂

Ours might chase a ball if youre lucky

He might even bring it back, but no way is he letting you have it to chuck it away again

Id forgotten birds, they are also on his bark list

He was a twat yesterday when we went to whitby with him

gulls bigger than him

It's all well and good recommending limitless exercise, it's fleeing and we're supposed to be in lockdown.

Get an open fire installed and get him installed as an oversized turnspit dog.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turnspit_dog

Another useful dog job.

Leading to another workaday dogs vs. glassback cats fact.

Yorkies were purposefully bred to keep down vermin in industrial textile settings after cats proved useless.

These diminutive dogs held no fear of mooching in an amongst moving machinery in pursuit of their quarry, they didn't feel the need to scratch raw material and/or finished product nor 'spray' (piss) on it. Their shedding of fur was negligble and confined to one portion of the year - not constant and the silky fur of a Yorkie was easily removed. The 'dumb' dog also didn't feel the need to paw its own shit then immediately start padding about wherever shitty paws weren't welcome i.e. on rolls of fabric, stacks of clothing, butty and brew prep areas etc.

All mills made the swap within a year, most of the mill moggies went into burlap sacks with a few cracked pulley wheels or other scrap iron and into the mill's lodge or river/stream they were hoyed.

He also piled on the pounds over the last 18 months (old story), entirely my fault for giving him excess treats and over feeding. That's now a thing of the past, Ted the Beddy has a new nickname.... Skinny Pete, he has been on a strick diet for the last 2/3 months and now looks like his old self, on his walks he his livelier and seems as though he enjoys it, he became a bit cumbersome and slothish, and on occasions would just lie down knackered.

same here - he's meant to be between 12-14kg - when we had the little one his excercise went down for a bit, he was always moaning so just placated him with chicken and treats

then he just kept piling it on, and ate food at his leisure which was left out all day

got up to 16.4kg before Christmas

not had treats in ages, food weighed out and he's started eating it all as soon as it gets put down, and have increased his exercise

was 15.6kg this week when he had his vac booster, aiming for 14kg

so going in the right direction and he's got more energy to chase other dogs

all good

I've noticed a disturbing amount of poodle hybrid ownership on here, and not one has admitted to having a breed that can savage a man to good effect.

This is a typical owner of a poodle cross...

I assume its because you're all webbed-up and what your missus says goes, rather than having peccadillos like the pictured chap yourselves.

I'm normally out for long spells so can't own a dog, but, should I become redundant or when I retire I would like to have a fierce dog. Maybe, if I one day, being redundant or retired, desert Britain for Palma de Mallorca I might get a Ca de Bou, Santander a Villanu, Las Palmas or La Palma then it can only be a Presa Canario...

If I have a live-in girlfriend by then, she'd have to put up with my devil-dog choice...

😀

I'd probably get two and be an unscrupulous breeder - make them earn their keep.

I feel for those whose dogs are proper cunts, my sisters Boston terrier is a fucking nightmare, he's destroyed the place and is a menace around other dogs and people.

However my dog, Ted the Beddy is as good as gold, never chewed anything but his own chewy toys and stuff, the worst thing he ever did was belch up all over the italian leather sofa, stank like fuck for weeks and was difficult to clean.

He also piled on the pounds over the last 18 months (old story), entirely my fault for giving him excess treats and over feeding. That's now a thing of the past, Ted the Beddy has a new nickname.... He's currently snoring away on the couch, but he will be out for a 5 mile walk later today.

Also picking up his turds in the garden in this weather is a treat, leave them a couple of hours...frozen turd, easy bag & bin 👌

There should be no dogs that are painful, as all I ever hear from dog owners is, they're....you've gessed it 'as good as gold', 'wouldn't hurt a fly' , 'oooh don't worry, he's only friendly.''

I won't come over and sit on your lap, get yout stinky, muddy mutt from mine.

Picking up frozen turds? That's a treat? Dear lord.

But having a box of shit and piss in the kitchen is a treat?

And an animal that loves nowt more than to paw its fresh shit then immediately go walkabout on the worktops, sink etc. Slinking about with shitten-up paw pads spreading toxoplasmosis everywhere.

Did Trainspotting teach ye nothing, did 'Tommy' die in vain?

Wouldn't go near raw meat if you're not in a position to let them run it off for as long as it takes - think it gives them miles more energy, so if he's being a dick now he'll be even worse

Not true that mate.

Raw meat has no more calories than the equivalent weight in dried food. In fact dried food has carbohydrates added as a binder, and often has ingredients of poorer quality in.

I cook mine, because I'm adding other stuff, but they also have bones, necks, feet etc fresh.

Better for the digestive system.

Oh good a Dog thread. Come on @miamiwhite let's form our own cat thread.

Actually, nah - it's only dog owners that need that sort of look at me I own a pet attention, itd be unseemly 😉

Well said my friend, we don't need the attention.

Tempted to buy Ani a Sphinx cat, but they'd look like twins when he takes her for a walk on a lead 😉
