At the weekend the gap between us and 7th place was 7 points tonight its down to 5 points - thats after 7 of the top 9 played yesterday

This coming Saturday Newport play Forest Green and Salford play Carlisle , and on tuesday its Cambridge v Cheltenham , Carlisle v Tranmere and Morecambe v Salford

They cannot all pick up maximum points when playing each other - and those are just the fixtures in the next 7 days - If we can keep winning that gap will disappear

Let's hope so. As giddy as we all are after that superb win tonight, if we don't beat Southend on Saturday, all these Promotion fantasies will go back down the pan again. I'm just not one of those people who either wanks themselves silly or condemns us to non-League after 2 or 3 results. I'm enjoying it enough at the moment without thinking 18 games ahead.

Spot on we need to keep motoring

Cheers Mantra!

Good to see a proper pile on for the winner- not seen enthusiasm like that for some time.

True, the lads looking more passionate than I've seen them so far.

Personally think Evatt's done a great job with the January recruitment. Not sure how the dynamic will change with the new technical director coming in. Phoenix didn't last long!

Someone has already mentioned being 3-1 down at Blackburn in 2004 and winning 3-4.

The only other time I remember was the last day of 88/89. We were 2-0 down at Northampton and won 2-3. It was part of that big long run of unbeaten games culminating in the Wembley win v Torquay. This win tonight betters it because we were 2-0 down with 11 mins to go.

Tonight has been on the cards though really if you look at the comebacks at Barrow and Carlisle. Such an odd season. You couldn't say we've really looked capable of such feats at home!

Yeah its strange that we look toothless at home when we're losing (or not come to that).

Only logical reason I can think of is that when teams are 1 up, or happy to be drawing, at our place they are more likely to have that defensive mentality that we find difficult to break down.  Teams at home that are winning are more likely to be a bit less cautious, and feel like they can go and get another goal.  I bet we could have completed a comeback at Tranmere if it wasn't for the ref and we'd be a lot closer to them in the table if we had.

It will do. As giddy as we all are after that superb win tonight, we'll be even giddier when we beat Southend on Saturday, all these Promotion fantasies are becoming reality. I'm wanking myself silly at the tits who condemned us to non-League after 2 or 3 results. I'm jerking it all night thinking of the 18 games ahead.

Fixed it for you.

I now have no fears about the drop so that’s 1 up on the last few seasons

Me too!  Saturday's game would have been a sqeeky bum must-not-lose without the recent improvement, for the first time in ages we can hope the top half teams lose and hope bottom half teams win.

So Gilks throwing one in the net was due to the ferocity of the shot but ours was a fluke. What a bitter cunt!

What about us hitting the inside of the post?

Was going to post the same.

The own goal comes about because of a strongly hit cross. Just like their strongly hit shot.

First one is fluky, but if they'd had a defender near John, it doesn't happen.

Gutting to concede like that, but things could have been done to prevent it Nigel. You can legislate for stopping our rampaging full back, instead of shrugging your soldiers.

I'm already red raw after tonight's game. If all that comes true, I'll be bashing away at a bloody stump, trying to pump the last drop out of a pair of withered raisins, and won't have enough energy to apply for Wembley tickets.

BTW the foul by Perch early on could have been a red, very late.

Clough also missed the one when Maddison challenged the keeper and it went wide.
TBF they worked hard and deserved a point

Fuck em. Should have been down to 10. Bottler ref, moaning manager.  Deserved nowt.

Was gonna get to the end but this is a good place

He was poor for the second

But then, when he couldve sulked....he didnt

I think he went up a massive level then

He was more mobile, more aggressive

The long ball for the winner was perfect

Vury impressed and very pleased for him

Oh aye, we have got a very good squad for this league now

Id not be the slightest bit surprised if we went up automatic

I was a bit like that with Williams, solid first half, had a bad 10 minutes, got caught too far forward (as well as Lee) for first goal,  two weak efforts at tacking for 2nd, would have booked him but them dropping deep after that goal helped him and could see why he was left on, was allowed to stroll forward and pick some good passes, especially that one to Doyle, seemed to get a second wind then and did well towards the end.

We have some real quality in our squad now, half a dozen at least a division better than where we are though a few not quite at full revs yet, when they are the engine could really start purring.

Bit of rotation might be necessary for Sat, that was gruelling tonight but we have more and better options
