Not sure about that Pompey (and us to lesser extent) found you are a cup final for the smaller clubs both home and away, with players and fans raising their game.

Well there is that! Good point. Even the Referees get a bit giddy 😀

The frustration IMO is that the opponents are awful and we do not have to do much to win games, but keep coming up short. Look at our goal last night, win the ball a decent run, nice ball and finished.  No one had to do anything exceptional. We have a squad of players that should be doing really well second half of this season but I think we are too far behind.
Under Sam we had years where the sum of the parts was better than the individual parts, feels the total opposite at the moment

Absolutely nailed it, we show glimpses, but nothing more.

They worked hard and was well drilled so difficult to break down. After the goal it was different and we should have taken advantage. We sat too deep early second half and let them push up but how that referee bought them free kicks is unbelievable. The sending off changed the game

Ref should get a 3 match ban for being a cunt, and their player too for clear play acting.  Clearly cost us two points, may not amount to much at the end of the season,  but ruined my Tuesday night.

This 100% - I was an angry man all day the next day as well.

Deffo, i thought he looked a breath of fresh air when he came on.Maybe guilty of trying a bit too hard, but once he settles in i think he'll be a top player for us.

Yeah from the little spell we saw he just seems to have the different level of skill to him, Dapo as  well, I have a good feeling about them both

Indeed. Trying too much to impress a bit maybe?

Calm down a bit, just do what he can do. I reckon party tricks too early can wind opponents up and make them more determined.

Get the fuckers beaten, then rub it in.

Can't beat nutmegging a defender when you're winning 4-0, then shouting "Megs" as you run past him giggling.

Like you said, perhaps best not to do it at 0-0.

In a way, getting it overturned makes it more frustrating.

Yep. I understand what you mean. Arguably lost us 2 points & cost a huge amount of angst. I hope the ref's spoken to.

I'm a regular critic of Evatt but, fair's fair, he backed the lad in this & hopefully it gives Maddison a feeling of belonging.
