If there was anybody guaranteed better, leave him out

But theres not

Hes finding his feet with no shortage of effort

Nobody is guaranteed to be better than most of the players left out today.  They all have to prove themselves to get a look in, at the moment MM is getting picked on reputation, the others have to play well to get picked.

The other cant lose possession so many times in 45 minutes and stays on the pitch.  Not saying I wouldn't pick him, but he's definitely being treated differently because of what he might do, not what he's done.

Thing with MM, yes he has a reputation, yes he may be treated differently because of it.

Hes so talented though, in a game like today, he will score or make a winner before the season is done and that's why he stays on.

Said it Wednesday and I still stay it, probably said it today too, keeping Lee and John fit are key. They reek of championship class

With his talent and expectation it isn’t a winner before the end of the season, it’s one per game I’m after. Not necessarily a goal but certainly assists.

Doesn’t matter who we beat, remember United won the league beating teams outside the bottom 6.

we were really poor today.  Pitch seemed bobbly and the wind was bad.

I thought first half we did ok. Doyle should have scored from the Maddison rebound.

just never got into rythym, fairly comfortable at the back, but just constantly winning the ball back and giving it away.

2 away games in 3 days, 6 points - really need to capitalise with 6 from 6 in next 2 home games and then see where we are.

its 3 points, smile and on to the next

I may be talking shite here but Williams reminds me of Steve McManaman when he first came onto the scene, same physically and attitude wise, almost an arrogant strut about him, could turn out to be a very good player

I was more thinking Paul Warhurst but a long way from both of them in terms of class

Players need a run of games to start showing what they can do, Evatt will be aware that we can't to many players chances to find their feet, but as long as the other 10 around him are covering and supporting him that's fine, if in another 2 or 3 games he's not showing much, then its upto Evatt to make that decision, at the moment we stick with him, mainly because nobody better is taking his place, you've also got to remember the loan situation, something like 5 loans allowed, it's either Maddison or Zebeedee, Maddison all day for me.

Agree on that, but how Zebedee would be ahead of Darcy is anyone's guess.

But you could argue the "run of games" for any player in the squad.  Darcy, Zebedee, Tutte and definitely Arthur.  They haven't had a run of games to show what they can do.  No denying they are treated differently to MM, and I'm as desperate for him to succeed as anyone. They are left out of the starting XI/squad as a default, MM starts as a default, he will have to do something bad to get himself out of the team.

Sarc ain't pretty but without him, we don't score

I noticed he closed the Southend defenders down and stopped them strolling forward unchallenged with the ball, something that we hadn't done previously in this game. Worth his appearance for that alone.

Darcy probably one for the future, evatt has said that those thrown in last season weren’t ready, I’m thinking Darcy being the main one, got to trust evatt on this one.

Tutte is bang average compared to Tomason, Lee or Williams, he isn't getting back in.

Maddison will come good because Evatt will give him that chance.

Doesn't seem that long ago we were all distraught if Tutte or Delaney missed a game. We've come a long way this last few weeks.

This. Looked like a player who had some competition when he came on . Good to see .

Honestly pal, I wasn't, didn't know what all the fuss was about, Delaney is shite and always as been, Tutte looked okay and that's it, in a desperate underperforming team. We were crying out for a solid central midfielder and unfortunately at the time he was all we had.

Games are coming thick and fast and both players will possibly get a game a game at some stage. Tutte has been decent for us and I don't think will let us down, we can only hope that Delaney shows the form that he was in around November if he is called upon.

Maddison will need 4/5 games to get into it, don’t forget there’s no reserve league for match fitness like years gone

He looks better every game some of his passing today was exceptional

He put a couple of great balls across the six yard line at Mansfield that were crying out to be knocked in but Doyle was in his heels both times and today produced at least a couple more. He gave it away a few times but no more than anyone else, the touch and passing accuracy throughout was terrible, bobbly pitch or not. He's slowly getting there I think.

We won, got three points, jump on the coach and get out of town, wins like Mansfield and today make promotion pushes. But, we have to start finding a way of making it easier to win games on bad pitches against alehouse teams, we'll get a few more of both over the next couple of months. We still have too many who disappear when it turns into a park pitch game.

Evatt's clearly got more options off the bench, which is great, but still within one style of playing, which wasn't working until we got a scruffy, flukey goal. Opportunity was there in window to get a target man in and have a Plan B to go long, by pass the meadow and cause chances through getting the ball into dangerous areas quicker. Evatt's more than a bit stubborn and evidently not having that as an option. We could easily have chucked that today persisting with stroking it about at the back on a battlefield, especially when Gilks is no modern day keeper.

I’m hoping Miller is that type of hold up the ball target man, would think he could be utilised alongside Doyle in a 4-4-2 which would give us another style of play and a different option.

Jesus Ian, be careful with outrageous comments like using a target man in the 4 div, it's akin to clubbing baby seals to some on here.

I doubt he’d be able to press in that situation if he’d started the game so it worked well on that front.

I’d expect Sarcevic to play in behind Doyle as he regains fitness, but it’s a nice problem to have, particularly as I can’t help thinking that Maddison would be more effective down the middle.
