I bet IE trains them a lot without the ball and a lot with positional play. They will do a training exercise called lemmings, basically a coach will have them in their positions and then shout a opposition position of where the ball is. I'd agree with that, he's improved game by game over the last 10, maybe not the toughest tackled but reliable enough defensively, got forward and made some really telling contributions like the one for Doyle's goal last night.
